Read the full interview below:
What was growing up like for you?
Growing up for me was full of ups and downs. Especially with having a
very large family. I’m 3rd out of 9 so you can imagine the chaos. Music
was my escape goat.
What sound defines your childhood?
The sound that defines my childhood is Pop and R&B. I grew up listening to Whitney Houston and so many more.
At what moment did you know you wanted to do this (music)?
I believe as soon as I knew how to move my legs I wanted to not only do music but entertain.
What’s your favorite genre of music?
My favorite genre of music is Pop music. Anything feel good and danceable is my thing.
Were you influenced by old records?
I was very much influenced by old records. My dad growing up used to
play many funk tunes by the greats James Brown, Donna Summers, Carlos
Santana. Fela and many other great ones.
What’s your motto or advice you live by?
My mother use to always say “Why settle for nickels and dimes when
you can reach for the gold” To me, that means never settle because of a
certain situation. Keep aiming high and in return you will get high
results.
What’s your favourite song at the moment?
My favorite song is my own “Papilo” featuring Selebobo.
Papilo is my favorite song at the moment because I tried something
that was different and it came out really good. It’s a happy go lucky
love song. Not to mention, I have one the hottest artist and producer
featured on it as well, so that’s a plus, plus.
Which famous musician do you admire?
Of course I will have to say Beyoncé. Seeing someone close to home
(we were both born and raised in Houston) becoming a mega superstar with
little to no scandal is very remarkable. Plus she is super talented and
hardworking and beautiful as well. More reasons to admire her.
What are your fondest musical memories?
My fondest musical memory is when I performed in my hometown for the very first time back in 2011.
My family was there to cheer me on which set my heart on fire. I got
on stage for the very first time and did what I was born to do, sing and
dance. From then on, I was hooked.
Tell us about your relationship with Flavour.
I really don’t prefer to talk about old things elaborately. But I
would say we were engaged for 3 years. I had a ring, both of our
families were involved, he even composed a song titled “Beverly” off is
Blessed album addressing the naysayers. It was really deep at the
moment. I’ll leave it at that for now.
How will you define your sound? What differentiates you from the next artiste?
My voice is very Indie, which allows me to sound very distinctive. I’m
a professional dancer as well, I can practically dance to any genre of
music. Which I can’t wait to the show the world.
Your new song, Papilo, what was the motivation behind it?
When I heard the song for the first time. I instantly fell in love.
There’s a big coincidence with the name Papilo, but I won’t mention it
though. It’s just an all around lovable tune.
Which producer in Nigerian which would like to work with?
There are so many of them, I just can’t limit it to one right now.
Where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs? What’s your favourite part of the process?
I draw inspirations from my moods and current situations I’ve been
through. If I’m feeling a certain way at the moment, let’s say in love.
I’ll write about that feeling. Because I know there’s someone in the
world feeling the very same way.
Any plans of moving back to Nigeria?
Yes of course. I love Nigeria and I’m planning to move end of this year by his grace.
Which Nigerian artiste (s) would you like to feature?
I would love to do a feature with P-Square, Phyno, MI, Cynthia
Morgan, Wizkid, Flavour and the upcoming hit artists we don’t know about
yet.
Five years from now you will be…
Five years from now, I see myself still recording but also recording
Gospel music with my own Television show winning souls for Christ. With
about 5 children, married to the love of my life blessing other people
in any way I know how.

Pope Francis Visits Philadelphia, Praises Women’s Contribution To Church
Pope
Francis called for the faithful to foster a sense of personal
responsibility in the Roman Catholic Church’s mission in our rapidly
changing society.
The first pope from the Americas emphasized
the importance of the laity and women in planning for the church’s
future during a homily at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and
Paul in downtown Philadelphia Saturday morning.
“In a particular
way, it means valuing the immense contribution which women, lay and
religious, have made and continue to make to the life of our
communities,” he said.
Francis, 78, shared the story of how
Pennsylvania native Saint Katharine Drexel’s life was changed when Pope
Leo XIII asked her about her contribution to fulfilling the church’s
needs.
“First, those words – ‘What about you?’ – were addressed
to a young person, a young woman with high ideals, and they changed her
life,” Francis said. “They made her think of the immense work that had
to be done, and to realize that she was being called to do her part.”
Pope
Francis celebrates Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and
Paul on September 26 in Philadelphia.
Francis has praised the role women play in the church
many times and elaborated on his dedication to respect for women in his
first apostolic exhortation, “Evangelii Gaudium” (The Joy of the Gospel), which outlines his vision for the institution in the modern world.
“We
need to create still broader opportunities for a more incisive female
presence in the Church,” he wrote in the 2013 document. “Because ‘the
feminine genius is needed in all expressions in the life of society, the
presence of women must also be guaranteed in the workplace’ [quoting
Pope John Paul II] and in the various other settings where important
decisions are made, both in the Church and in social structures.”
These
sorts of statements appear to align with what some see as liberal
denunciations of unfettered capitalism and manmade climate change. But
he has been criticized for saying that the reservation of the priesthood
for men is not open to discussion.
British theologian Tina
Beattie has lamented that the pope has not, in her opinion, done more to
include women in his revolutionary interpretations of the church’s
teachings.
“Francis is a potent and prophetic voice of late modernity,” she wrote in the Los Angeles Times.
“His greatest potential allies are the women who make up more than half
the church. We are on your side, Pope Francis. Can you hear us?”

university in Osun State was arrested by the Oyo State Police Command
during a stop-and-search in Ibadan recently.

but he couldn't defend it.
He said he made N6m from victims whom he promised to help secure jobs at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
According to him:

people. I promised to get jobs for them at NNPC and security
organisations. I have made up to N4m from the practice out of which I
bought a Toyota Corolla car. I lived in Osogbo. I came to Ibadan to
visit my family when I was arrested by the police.”

the state police command will not give room for criminals to thrive.”

Senator Saraki’s Ordeal Can Break Up The APC – Dr. Doyin Okupe
The former aide to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin
Okupe has said that the ongoing ordeal of the Senate President, Dr
Saraki is ominous and dangerous and may lead to a tragic end if wisdom
and tack is not applied. Dr. Okupe made the post on his Facebook page.
He wrote;
“To ordinary watchers of Nigerian politics, the ongoing ordeal of the
Senate President, Dr saraki may be an interesting soap opera. But to
more discerning minds it is nothing short of a tragic comedy.Over the
years Nigerian politicians fail over and over again to convince anybody
that they actually learnt anything from our checkered political history.
This is why we have had many Republics in our national history.
Wiston Churchill said " failure to act when action would have been
simple and effective, lack of good reasoning, and confusion of counsel,
all these lead to endless repetition of history."
I am personally not a supporter of Dr Saraki and for good reason. He
spearheaded the demolition of the PDP and the eventual catastrophic
electoral misfortune of the Goodluck Jonathan 's Presidency.
Neither am I a detractor of the Senate President. However as a veteran
politician I accept that all is fair in love and in war and as they say
the end justifies the means.
But what is currently going on is ominous and dangerous and will require
Wisdom and extreme tact from all the dramatis personnel.
I did in the past predict that the APC will break up, but that was
before the APC formed the government. Now that they are in government,
it is not in my interest or that of any reasonable or patriotic Nigerian
to wish that they break up.
A break up of the APC now has the capacity to undermine the current
political process and the entire political dispensation we are passing
through to the detriment of the country and the innocent masses.
As it is now, while the law must be allowed to take its course, men with
less passion, and more sense on ALL sides must rise to the occasion to
manage this delicate matter in the overall interest of our Nation, our
democracy and our people. Remembering always that an ill wind does not
blow anyone any good.”
105-Year-Old Man Sets New Running Record As Oldest Competitive Sprinter, Longs To Beat Usain Bolt (Photos)
On Wednesday, Hidekichi Miyazaki broke his own record for Oldest
competitive sprinter after running in the 100m at the Kyoto Masters
Athletics Autumn Competition in Kyoto, Japan.
Miyazaki was born on 22 September 1910 and has just celebrated his 105th birthday.
The impressive centenarian finished the race in just 42.22 seconds,
greeted by his proud great-grandchildren. Nevertheless, Mr Miyazaki is
often referred to as the “Golden Bolt” because he boldly imitates Usain
Bolt’s renowned lightening pose.
He longs for the opportunity to challenge the legendary Jamaican
sprinter (who holds the fastest 100 m record at 9.58 secs), and when
asked about Bolt's recent successes at the Athletics World
Championships, Miyazaki jokes: "He hasn't raced me yet!"
Senator Saraki Reacts To Reports That He Was Attacked Today
L-R: Senator
Saraki, Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad and retired
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore at the prayer ground
The Media Office of the Senate President has denied
reports that Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was attacked at the Eid Prayer
Ground on Thursday during the prayers to mark the Eid-el-Kabir in
Ilorin, Kwara State.
In a statement by the Media Adviser, Yusuph Olaniyonu, the office said
the report was ” totally false and a figment of the imagination of those
behind the story because the protest was never targeted at him, neither
was any missile hurled at him.”
” The Senate President arrived at the venue this morning without any
incident, prayed with other Muslim faithful, including the Emir of
Ilorin, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Speaker
of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ali Ahmad and a former
Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Alfa Belgore, among others.
” Before the Senate President left the prayer ground, he spoke to
reporters who had asked him about his message for Nigerians to mark the
Eid-el-Kabir.
” We want to say that nothing can be further from the truth as the
Senate President was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on
his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of
the media.
” We however observe that there was a protest allegedly staged by local
government employees over purported non-payment of salaries which
hoodlums attempted to hijacked but this development was immediately
curtailed by security agents.
” Therefore, to say that the Senate President was attacked at the venue
of the prayers is The Kwara State Government has since issued a
statement in which it stated that majority of the workers in the state
have received their salaries and that those yet to receive theirs will
do so on Monday as Thursday and Friday of this week are public
holidays.”

Kylie Jenner Makes Tyga Cancel Tour - Checkout The Reason
Chai woman power! Who would have thought that small 18 year old reality star
has such power over her much older man. Tyga has cancelled his much
publicized tour set to start tomorrow in Sao Paulo on Kylie’s wishes -
and fans say it is because she is worried about him taking a liking to
bootylicious locals.
Tyga was due to play three eagerly awaited gigs in
the tropical country this week, but according to reports in Brazil,
Tyga is facing a $400,000 fine for breaching the contract with fans
labeling him a puppy rather than a Tyga and others claiming that Kylie
wears the pant in their relationship.
In a statement, the furious local organizers of the tour said Tyga’s
reps had informed them 'he would not be coming to Brazil for his shows
because he was stopped by his current girlfriend, media personality and
socialite Kylie Jenner.'
'We are very upset in finding out an artist lacks the professionalism
and the love for Brazilian fans, and allows something personal to
interfere with his work schedule,' added Alexandre Stocco, of AS
Productions, and Andre Marques, of Amarx Productions.
Stocco said they were informed of the change in plans earlier this week.
Ex President Goodluck Jonathan Explains How HID Awolowo Brought Him Out Of Hiding
Former President Goodluck Jonathan said the death of HID Awolowo forced
him and his wife out of their ‘hiding’ place as they intended to stay
out of the public for at least a year.
The former president in company of his wife Patience
Jonathan visited the Ikenne country home of the Awolowos to pay tributes
to their matriarch, Hannah Idowu Dideolu, who passed on last Saturday.
Condoling
with the family, the former President noted that HID Awolowo enjoyed a
rare privilege by living extra 29 years, when compared to the biblical
prescription of three scores and 10.
“My wife and I are not mourning because Mama has passed on. For me, we
believe that it’s a rare privilege to add extra 29 years to the biblical
three scores and 10; it’s not easy. Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have been
mourning but Mama was a rare mother. She was a woman of virtue described
in the Bible and she was a mother to all of us.
A mother that her milk of kindness we still need, her milk of
encouragement we still need, her milk of advice we still need and today
she’s no more with us. We, just like her immediate children, and indeed
this country, have missed her. Within this period, my wife and I have
been hiding; we don’t even go out. We thought we’ll be hiding for at
least 12 months.
But in this particular case, we cannot hide. So, we have come for the
condolence and to encourage our brothers and sisters that we are
together. God brought her for all of us. She just had to be the direct
mother of a few but she was a mother to all. We shall mourn more than
even the direct children would.”
