Election Debate: Buhari explains his refusal to debate with Jonathan

            

The Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu has said he is not ready to participate in the presidential debate with President Goodluck Jonathan because there is no basis for debate since the record of the PDP and Mr. Jonathan in government is public knowledge.While addressing a media parley in Abuja today, Gen Buhari pledged if he wins the March 28 poll, he will ensure strict adherence to the constitution, saying he is now “a converted democrat”.
“I want to assure you that Nigerian constitution will be adhered to,” he said.
He reminded the audience of the controversial Decree 4 promulgated in 1984 while he was military
Head of State. He said there will be no such controversy should he win the presidential election.

“I cannot change the past but I can change the present and future. Dictatorship goes with military which made possible decree four.
“I am a former military leader. Note the emphasis on former. But I am now a converted democrat.
“I give full assurances to Nigeria media will be free under an APC government,” he said.

Asked if he was prepared to apologise for jailing journalists as military ruler, the Director General of Mr. Buhari’s campaign and Governor of River State, Rotimi Amaechi, prevented the former general from responding, saying “the general has said he could not change the past”.

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) at the weekend unveiled a car that was manufactured by the institution's Department of Mechanical Engineering.

                    

While unveiling the car to journalists, the Head of Department, Dr. Mohammed Dauda, said the car is environment friendly.
                     

Dr. Dauda, who doubles as the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, also said that the car would participate in this year's 'Shell Eco Marathon Competition'.

 

"In addition to federal government's automotive policy, I must say that the reason we started this (manufacturing of the car) came from Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited. They invited ABU to participate in what they call Shell Eco Marathon Competition. 

The car should be one that consumes little fuel but goes long distances. This competition is held in America, Europe and Asia and we are participating in the European one in Netherlands in May this year. All materials used for this car were sourced locally," Dr. Dauda said.

He added: "Though, there are things that we did not fabricate ourselves, you will be surprised that some of the components like the electrical, we just looked at an old computer system and then adopted some of the components that were useful to us. So, this is one example of what we did, which is recycling, otherwise, I will say 100 per cent of the things we used were produced here in Zaria".

Former Speaker, Ghali Na'aba Officially Decamps from PDP to APC

                    

 Former Speaker of the House of Representative under President Obasanjo's government, Ghali Na'abba has decamped officially from PDP to APC. He officially resigned from PDP on March 15th.
                      

Mr Na'ab arrived the APC National secretariat in Abuja this morning and was received by members of the party's National Working committee. The former speaker said he defected from the PDP after the party refused to change its undemocratic ways.
                   

He says he is in the APC to help grow the momentum of change the party clamors for. "The momentum everywhere now is with the APC and that is why I decided to join the APC in order to help grow the momentum" he said

Management of Lagos State University regrets to announce the postponement of activities lined up for the 20th Convocation Ceremony earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday 18th March and Thursday 19th March, 2015. The decision became imperative in the light of the agitation/protest by ASUU, SSANU & NASU on Monday 16th March, 2015, at the Main Campus, Ojo.

New dates for the University 20th Convocation Ceremony 

would be announced later.

Lagos State University Management deeply regrets all

inconveniences this development might cause graduands, 

parents, the entire University Community and the general 

public.
