EFCC agent disowns own document he submitted against Saraki

EFCC agent disowns own document he submitted against Saraki

A detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Michael Wetkas, on Tuesday April 19, 2016, denied knowledge of the contents of a petition he tendered as evidence against Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The petition, which is marked “Exhibit 11″, was written by a group known as Kwara Freedom Network, alleging corruption against Saraki. While being cross-examined by Kanu Agabi, Saraki’s lead counsel, Wetkas said he was not involved in the investigation of the petition he tendered as evidence at the tribunal.

Regarding whether he confirmed that local government funds were being illegally deducted as alleged in the petition against Saraki, he said:
“Not part of the investigation I carried out.”
“Do you know whether the petition was addressed to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB),” Agabi asked.
“I don’t work for the CCB. I wouldn’t know.”
Agabi: “In terms illegal transfer of funds by the accountant general, was he invited?”
Wetkas: “I cannot say because I was not the one in charge of this.”
Agabi: “Did you know if this exhibit was referred to him for an answer?
Wetkas: “I wouldn’t know, but he was once invited.”
Agabi: “Did you meet with the members of Kwara Freedom Network?”
Wetkas: “It was not part of my investigation.”
Agabi: “In the course of your work, did you come upon any document in which members of this network were called upon to justify their petition.”
Wetkas: “I was involved in this investigation in 2014; the petition was in 2012.”
Agabi: “Have you read the petition?”
“I only perused through it.”
Agabi: “When you tendered this document, did it occur to you that you will be questioned?”
Wetkas: “This is not the aspect I investigated. Someone more competent than me will talk about it.”
Agabi: “Did your perusal show that the asset declaration of the defendant was the issue.”
Wetkas: “I can’t remember seeing that.”
When asked if he obtained the statements of the petitioners, the EFCC detective said he did not know.
Agabi: “Did you obtain any statement from the defendant on this petition?”
Wetkas: “It was not part of my investigation. I didn’t investigate this aspect of the petition. There are people who are more competent to talk about it.”
Agabi: “Exhibit 11 (the petition) is not addressed to the CCB. No action was taken for four years after exhibit 11 was received?”
Wetkas: “I cannot say that. I didn’t investigate exhibit 11.”
The trial has been adjourned till Wednesday 20th of April 2016

Lionel Messi is worth €141m, while Cristiano Ronaldo is €101m - UPV

Lionel Messi is worth €141m, while Cristiano Ronaldo is €101m - UPV

According to a new report credited to the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV),football star Lionel Messi has a higher net value than Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine is valued at €141m millon while Cristiano Ronaldo is valued at  €101million.

The final figures according to the University report were determined by an Analytic Hierarchy Process multicriteria method which acknowledges variables such as number of goals, assists per game, bookings, leadership and marketing generated by the Argentine and Portuguese players.

The study is in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.

This isn't the University's final report as the report also said that Messi and Ronaldo's valuation will once again be analysed by the 'Mooc' course, which will begin on April 25.
Cristiano Ronaldo last year made a $40 million investment into four 'CR7' boutique hotels and also has his own game, perfume line, clothing line, underwear line and has mansions in Manchester, Madrid, Portugal, New York (Trump Towers) and Morroco, plus endorsement deals with Sacoor Brothers, Nike, Emporio Armani, KFC, Coca Cola and  motor oil company Castrol.

While Lionel Messi apart from companies allegedly owned by him in tax havens and endorsement deals with Samsung and Adidas, nothing is known of his financial ventures.

Ah! Saraki has just dug his own grave

Ah! Saraki has just dug his own grave

Saraki: The man who dug his own grave

At the inception of this administration, the president and the ruling party, APC made it known to all that they don’t need a senate president with excess baggage.

They don’t need a senate president with outstanding corruption cases because they want to maintain a neat leadership devoid of personalities with ongoing corruption cases.
Ordinarily, Senator George Akume was supposed to emerge as the senate president in the sense that he was the senate minority leader when his party (APC) was in the opposition.

With his party coming to power, he was supposed to be automatically elevated to the senate presidency.
His ambition was cut short after the president insisted that his number three man must be devoid of any outstanding corruption case . Akume has an outstanding case with EFCC.

Seeing the danger ahead and also not wanting to go against his party wish, the political field Marshall, the JAGABAN BORGU, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who had supported the Akume candidature, did a political somersault and adviced his friend, Akume to deter his ambition and transfered his support to the party’s preferred choice being Senator Lawan of Yobe State.

Once again, Tinubu proved to be the master political strategist, knowing when to either pull out, move forward or move backwards.

Unlike Akume, Saraki has more serious outstanding corruption cases hanging on his head and could have deferred his ambition but pride and stupidity took hold of him and he decided to go extreme.
He did not only disobey his party but went as far as conspiring with the PDP and betrayed his party by making a PDP man the Deputy Senate president.

Well, after the president and vice declared their assets, the next person was the senate president.
And what do we expect the government to do when its senate president defaulted?
To leave him and create the wrong impression that the government’s anti-corruption stance is just a fluke?
Please blame Saraki for his problems. He was prior informed about what is in stock for a senate president with excess baggage, but he still went ahead and decided to destroy himself.

So how does his issues now translate to witch hunting when he was fore warned of the implications of his ambition? He dug his own grave out of pride and greed.
