Nigeria Wins First Gold At Rio Paralympics

40-year old Nigerian at the Rio Paralympics, Roland Ezuruike, has won men’s 54kg power lifting title to claim first gold for the country.

Ezuruike started the contest by lifting 185kg on the first try to set a new Paralympic record before he extended it with his second lift of 190kg. Earlier, Latifat Tijani won the first medal for the country by clinching silver in the women’s 45kg power lifting event.
