 22 Home-based Eagles begin training in Abuja

Twenty two home-based players of the Super Eagles on Tuesday began training in preparation for the 2016 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), scheduled to hold in Rwanda from January 16 to February 7.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training began in the morning at the Abuja National Stadium, with an endurance race that lasted for about 40 minutes.
The evening training session saw the team kicking the ball around under the supervision of Assistant Coaches Salisu Yusuf and Jean Losciuto.

Toyin Ibitoye, Super Eagles Media Officer told NAN that four players were yet to join the team.
“The two players that were part of the Under-23 team that won the Africa Under-23 championship in Senegal, were given till weekend to join the team.
This decision, according to him, is to enable the players to have enough rest.

“Warri Wolves’ forward, Gbolahan Salami, and Enugu Rangers defender, Kalu Orji, were also given permission to report to camp later.
“The team trains mornings and evenings’’, he said.

Ibitoye also said the team’s Head Coach Sunday Oliseh, might join the team in Pretoria, South Africa, for the last phase of preparation for the CHAN.
