The disease which began as a handful of cases in Guinea, has not only spread to neighbouring countries like Sierra-Leone and Liberia, but also, to Nigeria. According to the World Health Organization, Ebola is one of the world's most virulent diseases, and is highly infectious.

Basically, humans contract the virus through contact with bodily fluids of infected persons or infected animals, and this has really made parents and guardians to be very worried following how children play with themselves in schools.

Interestingly, the virus is believed to be able to survive for some days in liquid outside an infected organism, and as such, chlorine disinfection, direct sunlight, soaps and detergents can kill it. These measures should be put in place by school administrators.
Infra-red thermometers should also be put in place in case of extreme body temperatures.

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, after the Jumaat Service today, disclosed that the last cases of the Ebola Virus Disease in the state had been cleared, having tested negative after surveillance.

Based on this, the state is now free of the Ebola virus, hence, it is safe for schools to resume on Monday September 22, 2014 for the normal academic activities.
