AC Milan sack Inzaghi, name Mihajlovic as new coach

AC Milan sack Inzaghi, name Mihajlovic as new coach

Filippo Inzaghi

AC Milan on Tuesday sacked coach Filippo Inzaghi after what has been a bitterly disappointing season, immediately replacing him with Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Milan will not compete in Europe next season after finishing down in midtable alongside city rivals Inter, spelling the end for Inzaghi, who failed to lift the club out of the gloom after taking over from former team-mate Clarence Seedorf last season.

“AC Milan announces that it has sacked first team coach Filippo Inzaghi, whom it thanks for the work done,” the Serie A giants said in a statement.
Former Sampdoria coach Mihajlovic has signed a two-year deal with Milan, the seven-time European champions added.

Inzaghi, nicknamed Superpippo, made his name as a player with Milan, scoring 126 goals in 300 games and winning 10 titles including the Champions League twice.
But the 41-year-old was widely seen as having been out of his depth since stepping up from coaching the youth team to replace Seedorf in June 2014.

Milan’s billionaire owner Silvio Berlusconi had admitted to having “different visions” to Inzaghi on the club.
The media tycoon, who is seeking outside investors to help him revive the club’s fortunes, said Inzaghi had ignored his request for players emerging from the club’s academy to be given a chance.

Milan went on to finish 10th in this season’s Serie A, their worst season since Berlusconi acquired the club three decades ago.

More than 10,000 flee erupting Indonesian volcano

More than 10,000 flee erupting Indonesian volcano

Nicaragua's Telica volcano

More than 10,000 villagers have fled a rumbling volcano in western Indonesia this month, most in recent days after a series of violent eruptions, an official said Tuesday.

Authorities raised the alert status of Mount Sinabung, on Sumatra island, to the highest level at the start of June after detecting a sharp increase in activity.
The volcano, which came back to life two years ago after a period of inactivity, erupted violently at the weekend, spewing hot ash and rocks high into the air.

Sinabung — which killed 16 people in a fierce eruption last year — was continuing to belch out a thick plume of smoke high into the sky Tuesday, covering homes far away with a coating of ash.
Around 7,500 residents have been evacuated from their villages following the weekend eruptions, disaster agency official Tri Budiarto told AFP.

They “left their homes on motorcycles, in cars and on military trucks. They were from six villages located in the danger zone south and southeast of the volcano,” he said.

Several thousand people fled their homes at the start of the month when the alert status was lifted, and the total number of evacuees now stands at 10,714, said the disaster agency.
The evacuees are sheltering in government buildings and places of worship in Kabanjahe town, around 10 kilometres (six miles) from Sinabung.

Volcanic activity remained high Tuesday, with Sinabung spewing out rocks and hot gas over a distance of three kilometres four times since early morning, said Armen Putra, head of the volcano observation post.
“We could still feel tremors. Ash one to two millimetres thick covered roads and homes located 15 kilometres away,” he said.

“It could take weeks before it eases, but for now, it is dangerous for people living nearby so we have recommended for them to evacuate.”

After Sinabung rumbled back to life in 2013, more than 10,000 people fled from nearby villages. Some have returned home but more than 6,000 of the original evacuees are still living in shelters.
The volcano has also had a devastating economic impact, with the disaster agency estimating it caused more than $100 million in damage last year and in 2013 in a broad range of areas, including infrastructure, farming and tourism.

Sinabung is one of 129 active volcanoes in Indonesia, which sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a belt of seismic activity running around the basin of the Pacific Ocean.

Read the EFCC press statement below...
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday June 15, 2015, arraigned Ebiechina Chikeluba ( aka Lisa T. Jackson) before Justice O. A Ipaye of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja on a 17-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, personation, forgery and using false document. Chikeluba who met his victim on Facebook using the false identity of, Lisa T. Jackson, a United States citizen, has been making monetary demands of his victims, using varies guises.

In one such instance in March 2013, he obtained a total sum of £54,324.59 (Fifty Four Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty Four Pounds, Fifty Nine Pence) from one K. Oaks through Western Union on the pretext that he was an American woman dealing in Gold in Nigeria and needed money to increase her capital.

The unsuspecting victim paid, having already agreed to marry the woman. When the charges were read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty. In view of the plea of the accused, prosecution counsel, Andrew Akoja asked for a trial date and prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison custody. The defence counsel, Chijioke Agu informed the court that he has already filed an application for bail and asked to be allowed to move his application.

However, Justice Ipaye adjourned the matter to July 20, 2015 for hearing of bail application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody. Chikeluba, 21, a student of Federal Science and Technical College Yaba, Lagos was arrested by the operatives of the EFCC on February 24, 2015 for allegedly swindling Oake, a UK citizen, of the sum of £54,000 (equivalent of N20m).

NASS members to get N8.64bn as wardrobe allowance next week

NASS members to get N8.64bn as wardrobe allowance next week

The newly inaugurated members of the National Assembly are to receive N8.64 billion as Wardrobe allowance next week. According to ThisDay, N8.64 billion wardrobe allowance translates to N17.5 million for each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives and N21.5 million for each of the 109 senators. This is asides the other allowances they are entitled to which includes furniture, housing and vehicle.

While the wardrobe allowance will cover the entire four-year tenure that they will be in office, their housing allowances are to be paid on a yearly basis. Based on the approval of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the housing allowance for political office holders is usually 200 per cent of their annual salaries, the furniture allowance is 300 per cent of annual salaries, while a motor vehicle loan is pegged at 400 per cent of their annual salaries.

Going by this policy, each of the 107 senators besides the Senate President and his deputy, will be paid N4,052,800 as housing allowance. This will be paid to them every year, translating to N433,649,600 as housing allowance to be paid to the Senate annually, while the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President will be provided accommodation by the federal government.

On the other hand, each member of the House of Representatives will be paid N3,970,425 as housing allowance. This implies that the each of the 358 House of representatives members aside the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, will collect a total of N1,421,412,150 as housing allowance.

Like that of the Senate, the speaker and deputy speaker will be given accommodation by the federal government. Following the monetisation of entitlements of public officials undertaken by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, the lawmakers lost the right to occupy houses built and maintained by the government. Hence, the federal government sold the houses previously occupied by the lawmakers to them.

Since the principal officers of the Sixth National Assembly benefited from the sale of the houses, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is currently building new ones for the four presiding officers of both chambers. On the furniture allowance, each of the senators will be paid N6,079,200 while the furniture for both the Senate president and his deputy will be provided by the government. The total sum to be paid to the 107 senators as furniture allowance will be N650,474,400.

In the House of Representatives, each member will be paid N5,955,637.50 as furniture allowance. This means that the 358 members will collect a total of N2,132,118,225 for furniture.

On the vehicle loan, each of the senators is entitled to N8,105,600, while each House member is entitled to N7,940,850.50, meaning that the 107 senators will collectively take N867,299,200 as vehicle loans while the 358 House members will get N2,842,824,479 for their vehicles.

Kanye West & his ex, Amber Rose attended same party over the weekend and it's got people talking

RadarOnline reports
Kanye West may have claimed he needed 30 showers to get with Kim Kardashian after dating Amber Rose, but that didn’t stop him from ditching his pregnant wife to party with his ex this weekend! Kanye West, who has openly admitted that he gets bored easily, was seen attending a foam party this weekend for model Maddy Morebucks. Morebucks posted numerous videos to her Instagram account showing all of the celebrities that helped her celebrate her 25th year. In separate videos, Rose and West can be seen wishing her a happy birthday, with Kanye sporting his signature frown.
Also caught partying were The Game and French Montana, whose on again off again girlfriend Khloe Kardashian had a well-publicized beef with Rose following comments made on the radio and social media. The argument was centered around Kylie Jenner‘s relationship with Tyga, the father of Blac Chyna‘s baby. Blac Chyna was also in attendance. With all of the celebs who were in attendance, it seems that the only person who wasn’t there was Kanye’s wife.

Horrible!!! A 16-year old girl raped, killed and set on fire, two suspects charged

Horrible!!! A 16-year old girl raped, killed and set on fire, two suspects charged

Two young men have been charged in a truly horrific crime that took the life of a 16-year-old High School girl in Baltimore.
According to police, Childs told detectives that he and Dixon planned to rob Bowers’ home. They said Bowers had been spending time with Childs and Dixon at Childs’ apartment building.

After Bowers’ grandmother picked her up on Saturday, police said, Dixon followed the car home on a bike. Once he knew where Bowers lived, police said, he returned with Childs.

“They believed the house would contain items of value because Arnesha’s grandmother has a job and owned two vehicles, and planned to break into the property and steal any valuables,” police wrote in a report.

Police said the men knew Bowers’ grandmother was working and Bowers was home alone. If the teen awoke, police said, Dixon planned to put her in a chokehold.

The pair entered through a basement window, police said. Bowers awoke, police said, and Dixon dragged her into the basement while Childs ransacked the home, taking money from purses and a safe.

According to police, Childs told detectives that Dixon and Bowers were in the basement for 30 minutes.

Then Dixon came upstairs and said they needed to leave “because the house was on fire,” police said. Dixon told Childs the girl was dead, police said.

She had been raped, strangled, her body had been set on fire, as had her bed, dresser and a basement utility room, police said. They said a check of her phone showed calls between her phone and a phone belonging to Dixon hours before she was killed.

Police said Childs confessed to the killing and burglary and implicated Dixon. Police arrested Dixon hours later.

“Killers,” Batts said. “Sixteen-year-old, innocent teenager. … Nothing is more important than tracking down and jailing cowards who take the life of an innocent child. Nothing.”

Court records show Childs was released from a Baltimore County jail on a burglary charge five days before Bowers was killed. Childs was charged with attempted murder in 2011, but prosecutors dropped the charge.

Dixon has a prior drug possession conviction, court records show.

NASS election: APC is unfortunately divided - Rabiu Kwankwaso

NASS election: APC is unfortunately divided - Rabiu Kwankwaso

Former Kano state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso says events that led to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President has unfortunately divided their party APC. Kwankwaso said the failure of the leaders of the party to do the right thing at the right time led the party to where it is now. Senator Kwankwaso said this while speaking to journalist in Abuja yesterday June 15th. All the things he said after the cut...

"I think the party, unfortunately, is divided but it is not too late to correct many things but the party should take certain steps to ensure that such things will never happen again in the party and I am one of those who advised or tried to advise my brother, Saraki that he should not go too far with that ambition under this circumstance. At this level and his level, people should be more careful and cautious in what they do and what they don’t do and especially that the situation is even worst than the case of Tambuwal during the House of Representatives election of principal officers in 2011. Of course, Tambuwal’s case was a case of going out of zoning but all the positions went to members of the party. But this time around, because of the ambition of our members, I think they went and connived with people who are not only opponents of the party but enemies of the party to fight the party after the people of this country have discarded these people. And now because of ambition, these people were made in a way relevant and I don’t think that is the best way to go. Members of the party should have certain limitations, they should know when to start and when to stop and I think this is going too far in romancing members of the PDP. As far as we are concerned, PDP was dead until recently when this ambition brought certain people to do what they should not do in democracy and party politics and how they are just about to create unnecessary life for them to the extent that some of them are servicing again and making all sorts of statements. On the issue of what went wrong, I think there were so many things having to do with time. This election had to do with time. We had so many weeks before the election to address this issue. This is not the time to say I told you or I told them, but many of us tried to tell our leaders to do the right thing at the right time. I think the party missed the crucial opportunity to address this challenge. I think time was crucial of which the party missed some important steps and therefore things went wrong. I told you the party missed some vital steps and gave an ample opportunity to Bukola Saraki’s group and they used it effectively and took all the advantages that had to do with the mistakes of our leaders"he said
Senator Kwankwaso said some members of the party acted out of anger because they believe one of their leaders Bola Tinubu was trying to take all the positions available.
"I am aware that members of the G-5/G-7 group were interested in seeing one of us occupying one of the strategic positions. I am also aware that there are some people in the party who believed Tinubu had taken so many things and it was time to take a break. They had a perception that Tinubu was trying to take it all. There are other groups that believed that Saraki had given them so many things and they had to pay him back. Many senators believed that they were supported by Saraki.”he said
He stated that the allegiance of Senate President Bukola Saraki with PDP Senator that resulted in the emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as Deputy Senate President will cause problems for President Buhari.
"You see, first of all, the President will face a lot of irritations in the sense that these people must be very angry with themselves, they must be very angry with Nigerians and, therefore, will do everything possible to put all sorts of hurdles on the way of Mr. President. That is obvious. I can always read their mind. I was one of them, I was part of them, I was part of the party but we had to leave the party because of this attitude. So, in some of the books that I read, especially Islamic books,  there are things that we call Sadaqatuljariya (doing charitable deeds like building schools, hospital, throughout your life) and you will be getting reward and even after you die. These sorts of mistakes are what we call Musibatuljariya. It is so bad and it is a bad thing that will continue to occur until the system goes to end because they have their own agenda to tackle the APC, to tackle the APC government, they are angry with themselves, they are angry with the people and Nigeria because they feel Nigeria belongs to them and they wanted to take everything and Nigerians rejected them.”he said
He expressed his displeasure at Senator Ekweremadu's emergence as Senate Deputy President
"Just yesterday, I was reading, I don’t know whether it is true or not, that Ike Ekweremadu was talking rubbish, nonsense. It is like they have reasons to speak again and I think it is because of the mistakes of our members. I believe that at the end of the day, the party and members must get a way of coming together and behave well, I think that is the only way we can make progress. I don’t think I should be in a hurry to say that he should resign but all I know is that many things have gone wrong to the extent that the party has to put its acts together to make sure that things that are done in that way are stopped and from there, we will build the party again. It (Deputy President of the Senate) does not belong to them. I have been in PDP from 1999 until 2014 or so. You see, it was unthinkable in PDP for you to allow any other party to take any of those positions. They have done it five times and they never allowed any member of any party to go near those positions, so I think it was unfair and not correct and they took it shamelessly and I am sure our party will look at it and take what belongs to our party back. Maybe there are ways APC can accommodate the Southeast by way of appointment but certainly, we have not seen PDP in the five times that they had reasons to select leaders in the National Assembly, they never considered other parties in terms of giving them position but I am sure that our party had it in mind that it will carry the Southeast but not in the position of the Senate President. The Senate has Deputy Senate President; that position does not belong to the PDP and that is the mistake Ekweremadu is making. Now he said he was elected deputy Senate president, yet he reduced himself to a zone and a tribe, which is not good enough. We are not saying he should step down or stay; what I am saying is that what they have taken does not belong to them and all those who supported him and his party to get it have made a big mistake for themselves, the party and indeed for the country and they should be ashamed of themselves"he said.
Senator Kwankwaso said erring members of the party must be disciplined
“I don’t know, the party must be doing its own bit but if I were the national chairman, I would either write to these members individually a letter of displeasure or call them and tell them because there has to be discipline. It does not matter whether you are 10 or 20 or even 1,000, whatever your number is in a party, as long as there is no discipline, definitely there will be problem. I am one of the senior senators by any standard in this country but because of the consideration of the fact that Buhari is from the Northwest, of course not from Kano, you are not seeing me going round to say I want this position or that position. I have president in my zone and I have to be considerate in the sense that other zones should get it. It is not like you will come by all means and you must take it whether it favours the zoning, the party or not. So, all these things must be respected by the party and the members"he said.

My regret as INEC chairman – Prof. Jega

My regret as INEC chairman – Prof. Jega

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, on Monday reviewed his tenure as the boss of the electoral body and concluded that his only regret was that he was unable to create a separate salary structure for INEC workers.
Jega spoke in Abuja during a retreat  titled, “2015 general elections: Lessons and the way forward.” which was organised for the electoral officers of the commission where the report of the 2015 elections was reviewed.
He said apart from the special salary issue, the commission under his leadership performed well.
He said,
“We have done our best as a commission under very difficult circumstances and the major regret as I have always acknowledged is that a major undertaking we made when we first resumed at the commission is to have a separate salary structure for the members of staff of the commission but we have not been able to achieve this
“And obviously this is one area where we still have to do a lot of work and put in a lot of efforts as we move towards the future and to improve.
“But apart from that, I don’t think we have done badly in terms of promoting the welfare and the wellbeing of the members of staff.
“We have ensured that salaries were paid regularly, we have ensured that there are a lot of opportunities for self improvement through the organisation of seminar and workshop with our partners.”
“Again as I said, we could not have satisfied the expectations of everybody, we believe that we have done our best. I must say that not all of you are happy with some of the measures that we have introduced as a commission.
“The restructuring and reorganisation certainly could not have satisfied everybody because it required trimming down the size of the commission and also redefining schedule of responsibilities and putting square pegs in square holes as we called it at that time.”
Jega, who had insisted that he would leave INEC after the expiration of his tenure, said that the 2015 general elections were better than those of 2011.
He added that there was a lot of room for improvement and that as the country prepares for future elections, the commission must begin to reflect on what areas of further reforms it should focus its attention on.

Imagine! Widow says pedicure killed her husband

Imagine! Widow says pedicure killed her husband

A widow in Chicago blames a nail salon for killing her husband in a pedicure-gone-wrong.

A lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court alleges that Darryl Carr suffered a grisly infection that led to the amputation of his left leg and, ultimately, his death.

Carr's family says the AZ Happy Nails salon in Sauk Village soaked his feet in a chemical solution and then in a hot wax solution, but it alleges that the solutions were contaminated and that his left foot was left soaking for too long.

Carr suffered "serious burns" to his leg, which then became infected, says the lawsuit. It faults the salon for lax safety and training procedures, and for failing to test Carr for possible allergic reactions or warn him of any risks.

He visited the salon in November 2013 and died this month June 2015, leaving his wife and two kids, ages 10 and 13. His widow is seeking at least $50,000 in damages from the salon, which hasn't responded publicly.

I don't know why people are anxious for Ministers – President Buhari

I don't know why people are anxious for Ministers – President Buhari

Speaking to newsmen during the AU Summit in South Africa yesterday, president Buhari said he doesn't know why people are anxious about ministers, saying he's yet to appoint them because his predecessor’s transition committee submitted its report on the previous administration to him late.
“I don’t know why people are so anxious about ministers. But eventually we will have (them). But the main reason is that I have an interim committee which I agreed with the former President Jonathan that the ministers of the outgoing government should hand over their notes or their documents to this interim committee so that a position can be prepared for the new government to start from with clear records from ministers.

But the ministers knew that they were going while the technocrats, the permanent secretaries and directors and so on, would remain. If anything goes wrong they would be invited to explain, but unfortunately the outgoing government did not cooperate.
So, what the committee did was to divide itself into about five sub-committees and got a resource person that was willing to come and bring the document, and so they prepared and I got the report I think three days ago."
“I was waiting for this report because I would like to know the position of things in the government especially in terms of finance and petroleum industry. So, I am not in a hurry to get ministers.
I want to get ministers after at least I have seen the report because I don’t have to appoint a minister today and sack him the next week because this report would give me what actually happened in terms of security, and economy of the country. And since I have to have ministers from politicians and technocrats, I wouldn’t (like to) make the mistake of getting somebody, who has been involved on account of accountability." he said
