I must ask you this question. In our pursuit for happiness, do we focus on the dictates of life based on our social environment or on our own personal need of what individually makes us happy? For the past few days the global social media has been agog with Bruce Jenner sex change, he now wishes to be called Caitlyn.
Surfing through some of our local blogs, I have read some yahoo yahoo comments from Nigerians who feel that their yeye comments are really of any importance in the decision taken by this great Olympian, now, the gender bender.
Yes, I saw Bruce Jenner Vanity Fair interview. I read it over and over, it sounded so gutsy, sincere, truthful and so free. Bruce had always been married, had kids, and a successful career but for a long time he had never been happy and content with being a man. Sometimes we find it difficult understanding what prompts one to make those kinds of changes that are physically and emotionally permanent and we start to speculate, Maybe he wanted to rebrand, wanted to put himself back into serious reckoning again.
Yes, sometimes it can be about the drama and
the almighty dollars who is to say. However, It just may be devoid of
all those and just be a spiritual journey to finding self, purely a
pursuit of happiness, about being free, and finding strength to be that
which makes one feel complete irrespective of who's ox is gored!
My take
It is not one’s masculinity or femininity alone that defines one’s identity, it is the harmony between the two that determines how comfortable and integrated one’s identity is going to be. In other words, shocking as this may be to the more macho in our midst, inside some men, lies an unexpressed woman.

proposition that the object of masculine identity development is not the

In other words, blending the two fundamental principles of yin and yang
to influence our behavior.

Barely 24 hours after more than 30 people were killed in a bomb blast
that ripped an Abattoir in Maiduguri, Borno state, another bomb
explosion has occurred in the city. This time along Baga road near
Maimalari Barracks of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army this evening
at about 5.20pm.
Babagana Kana who resides in the area said "We heard loud explosions in the timber sheds area about 100 metres away from sector 1 command, shortly soldiers started shooting so everyone fled. I couldn't wait to ascertain the number of casualties.”
There are reports that 6 persons were killed in the explosion.

College of Education goes on strike
Alayande College of Education in Oyo state has on Wednesday reportedly embarked on a strike.
The institution resulted to an industrial action after Students on Tuesday held a peaceful protest within the school premises due to indefinite postponement of the first semester examination.
The Nation gathered that the examination billed to start on Monday, 25th May was initially postponed to this week and now till further notice.
Students however ran out of patience when the school management notified them on Tuesday that the examination has being postponed indefinitely and took to the streets within the campus.
It was reported that President of the Student Union Government (SUG), Obisesan Monsur, organised the peaceful protest and gave the school an ultimatum of one week to procure a lasting solution.
Meanwhile, it was further gathered that staffs’ salaries in the institution have been unpaid by Federal Government for quite a while and thus, the school resulted to going on strike.
Addressing the students, the Deputy Provost, Alhaji O. Y. Akinyemi, who promise that the school will see to their grievances and will move to effect quick resumption, pleaded with the student to suspend the strike.

The unsuspecting female Corps members soon succumb to their wishes after promises of not only posting them to Government House or choice areas with mouth-watering incentives, including furnishing house for them to stay throughout the duration of their one year national service for $exual satisfaction.
Selected/recruitied Corps members by the cartel from the Paiko NYSC Camp are always included on the list of those posted to serve in the Protocol Department, Government House to cover their tracks, the source said.
As a way of rewarding the girls, parties to celebrate birthdays by each of them are organised if they wished, end of their service year is usually celebrated for them as they are quickly replaced with new intakes almost immediately by the cartel, the source said.
To avoid the prying eyes of unsuspecting public, the male partners under the cover of being part of the Government House Corpers’ lodge behind the Idris Legbo Kutigi International conference centre, Minna visit their partners in the unholy act at odd hours.
Investigations reveal that the dislodgement of the journalists and their politician collaborators from the Government House Corpers’ Lodge began when they started having issues among themselves and their activities became an open secret. tattooed across her breasts she was hoping for a lasting memory of
their birth.
Unfortunately for Sarah, she ended up with a pair of botched inkings – which not only damaged her skin but also proved nearly impossible to read, Metro UK reports.
The 28-year-old, who appears on the latest edition of the Spike TV show Tattoo Disasters, revealed on the show that she fell victim to an inexperienced tattooist when having daughters’ names Jasmine and Megan etched across her breasts.
And she admitted the poor result had left her ‘devastated’ – largely due to the sentimental value attached to the tattoos, which were meant to represent where each of her daughters had been placed after being born.
I’ve had tattoos from that shop before so I was pretty confident I was OK,’ Sarah recalled, despite being faced with a tattooist whom she said ‘looked like a teenager’ – but things swiftly went downhill

‘I showed her what I wanted and then she put some tracing paper on,’ she explained, ‘but she didn’t put the dates of birth on the tracing paper, which she should have done and she freehanded it afterwards.
‘Two weeks into the healing process it looked horrendous. I went back and that’s when I was told the tattooist wasn’t fully qualified.
Sarah added: ‘You can’t make out what it says, they’re not even level for a start. I was devastated because obviously there’s a reason behind them, it’s a memory and it’s been tarnished.’
Despite the sentimentality attached, the show ultimately sees her having the disastrous tattoos lasered off – and replaced with a far more successful tattoo on her back, which also incorporates the name of her son Jake.
‘It’s a nice end to an emotional rollercoaster of a day,’ she said of the revamped tattoo. ‘And I’m happy I’ve had it done…I feel amazing.’

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been asked to call his wife,
Patience, to order, by concerned Bayelsa Elders or risk political crisis
in Bayelsa State.
Ebeletimi Wilson, who is leading the group said this while addressing journalists in Lagos, according to a statement on Tuesday.
Wilson said Jonathan’s wife was still scheming to ensure that the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, does not emerge governor next year.
He said now that Jonathan has relocated to Bayelsa State, his wife is attempting to use her supporters in the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria to frustrate the governor.
He said if Jonathan did not handle the situation well, he could lose Dickson’s loyalty just as former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Timipre Sylva abandoned him.

“Our appeal is that, as the leader of the state, Jonathan should encourage Dickson for succeeding in keeping the Peoples Democratic Party united in the state.”Wilson said if Jonathan did not speak up then it would be assumed that he and his wife are plotting to ensure that a former commissioner, Waipamo-Owei Dudafa, emerges the next governor of the state.
He alleged that Patience’s clique and preferred candidate were the ones frustrating Dickson’s administration.
He said, “Why should ex-President Jonathan keep mum while his wife fuels crisis in the state just because she is not getting her way? It is very disappointing. Her aim is to turn Bayelsa into a crisis-ridden state like what she encouraged in Rivers State, but thank God Dickson has been tactful.
“It is ironical that she has in the last three years been the main opposition in Bayelsa State, intimidating the people and even security operatives.”

A 25-year-old Nigerian man, Austin Chukwuna lost his life on Sunday
after an ingested hard drug he was smuggling out of Indonesia bust in
his stomach.
The Indonesian Police said Chukwuna who checked into a hotel close to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in the country on Sunday suddenly ran out, screaming like a lunatic shortly after he checked in.
Adding that the deceased ran to the hotel’s car park, where he broke a car glass which he used in cutting himself in an attempt to get rid of the drug from his system.
A Police Chief Comr. Heddi Managsi said, “Austin Chukwuna, 25, ran out of the Ibis Hotel near the airport compound where he had just stayed a night. He allegedly tore open his abdomen with pieces of glass,” The police chief said when they searched inside his hotel room; they found three methamphetamine capsules and another eight meth capsules on the highway. “We then took him in an ambulance, but he died on the way to Tangerang General Hospital,” he added.

The photos had to be censored because they're quite graphic. An
abandoned new-born baby, said to be about 3 days old, was discovered by a
man in the woods being 'eaten alive' by ants. The man, who called
police, said he heard the child crying while he was taking a shortcut to
work through the woods on the outskirts of Chelyabinsk, a city in
Russia. The badly bitten child was lying on a pile of leaves and covered
in ants.
Police said if the child, who still had her
umbilical cord attached - hadn't been found when she was, she would died. She was rushed to the hospital and is expected to
make a full recovery. Police are now looking for the child's parents.

A Nigerian lady, Marie Shade Adebayo,24 was shot dead on June 1st by a
man believed to be her ex-boyfriend outside a Target store in Milestone
Center, Montgomery County, Maryland.
Police have arrested 27 year old Donald Wayne Bricker Jr for the murder, witnesses said they saw Shade and Donald involved in some sort of altercation inside a vehicle prior to the shooting. Shade then got out of the vehicle and Donald followed.

Justice Ayo Emmanuel of a Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Tuesday
remanded six officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria arraigned for
stealing and circulating mutilated Naira notes meant for destruction by
the apex bank.
The six are Patience Okoro, Afolabi Johnson, Ilori Sunday, Kolawole Babalola, Olaniran Adeola and Fatai Yusuf were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, charged for conspiracy, diversion and stealing of mutilated naira notes worth N8bn.
They were also accused of replacing the mutilated currencies with cut-to-size newspapers and converting the money to their personal use.
Others charged alongside the CBN officials were Kayode Philips, Salami Ibrahim and Odiah Emmanuel. They were charged with conspiracy with other officials of CBN and other banks.
Two others-Roy Akinsiku and O. Sobowale-were said to be at large.
Counsels for the accused persons made oral applications for bail but the judge refused the applications and ordered that the accused be remanded in the EFCC office or at the Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku Police Division, Ibadan.
Justice Emmanuel has also fixed Tuesday, June 9, 2015 for argument of the written bail applications and fixed July 6 and 7, 2015 for the commencement of trial.
The CBN had said that some of its official had been investigated and found to have compromised their integrity by stealing and circulating mutilated currency billed for destruction.
“During a routine internal audit of the bank’s cash destruction activities in September 2014, the CBN Briquetting Panel comprising senior bank staff from different branches noticed some anomalies at the Ibadan branch, and immediately reported this to the bank’s management. On further investigation ordered by the governor, it was discovered that a systematic scheme, which has been on for several years, was being run in which mutilated higher denomination notes originally meant for destruction were swapped with lower denomination currencies,” the apex bank had said in a statement.
The EFCC prosecution team led by Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) included the immediate past Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Oyo State, Mr. Adebayo Ojo; A. Adebisi, Sunday Aborisade, Rotimi Oye, O.M. Atoyebi, Sola Olanibiire.
The accused persons were represented by K.A. Lawal, Bola Alabi, A.O. Ajayi, Olayinka Bolanle, and B.B.M. Ashie of Olalekan Ojo Chambers.
The five count charge read to the accused persons said they committed an offence under Section 7 (2) of the Bank Employees (Declaration of Assets) Act Cap. B1 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
One of the counts against the bank officials read, “The accused persons on or about 5th August, 2014 in Ibadan within the jurisdiction of this honourable court engaged in corrupt practices when they replaced the content of a box of N1,000 notes denomination in a total sum of N10m marked as ‘Counted Audited Dirty’ meant for briquetting with newspapers and which sum you converted to your own use and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 1 (2) (a) and Section 10 (1) of the Recovery of Public Property (Special Provision) Act Cap. R4 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The six are Patience Okoro, Afolabi Johnson, Ilori Sunday, Kolawole Babalola, Olaniran Adeola and Fatai Yusuf were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, charged for conspiracy, diversion and stealing of mutilated naira notes worth N8bn.
They were also accused of replacing the mutilated currencies with cut-to-size newspapers and converting the money to their personal use.
Others charged alongside the CBN officials were Kayode Philips, Salami Ibrahim and Odiah Emmanuel. They were charged with conspiracy with other officials of CBN and other banks.
Two others-Roy Akinsiku and O. Sobowale-were said to be at large.
Counsels for the accused persons made oral applications for bail but the judge refused the applications and ordered that the accused be remanded in the EFCC office or at the Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku Police Division, Ibadan.
Justice Emmanuel has also fixed Tuesday, June 9, 2015 for argument of the written bail applications and fixed July 6 and 7, 2015 for the commencement of trial.
