Ewoo!! Woman dies after doctors severed her baby's head during delivery

Geeta Devi died at a government hospital, in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, northern India after doctors forcefully pulled on the body of her child during delivery, severed the baby’s head and left it inside the womb. The 32-year-old was later sent to another hospital where doctors managed to remove the severed head from her womb, but could not save her life. She died in the early hours of Sunday, August 23.

Her husband Hemant, 40, from Sadar Bazar, in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, northern India, said:
“It is the fault of the doctors. First they removed the body of my baby leaving the head inside and then they told us to take my wife to another hospital. They just left us. Eventually a local nursing home took my baby’s head out of my wife but she died. They could not save her.”
The District Magistrate of Shahjahanpur, Shubhra Saxena, said: “It is a severe case of negligence and we are investigating the matter.”

He shaved some of his hair to make room for the new tat, which appears to be the ancient Greek statue Venus de Milo, who can also be seen on the cover of Jay Z’s album Magna Carta… Holy Grail.
The statue is believed to depict Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Breezy documented the process on Instagram before deleting it.

“#onehellofanight #legendarynights #OHB do what want and if u aint wit the bandwagon u will be soon #KEEPIT ,” he wrote.
The tattoo is just the latest in Brown’s expansive collection, which covers his neck, arms, chest, and back.

White House: Man attacks deputy sheriff with knife in courthouse

White House: Man attacks deputy sheriff with knife in courthouse

A man who scaled a wall of the White House 5 months ago was killed in a Pennsylvania courthouse on Tuesday after slashing a sheriff's deputy with a knife.
Curtis Smith, 33, entered the lobby of the Chester County Justice Center in West Chester shortly before noon, according to District Attorney Tom Hogan.
Gunshots rang out inside the courthouse at 201 W Market St. in West Chester, Pennsylvania around 11: 50 a.m. Tuesday after an armed man charged past metal detectors leading to a lockdown of the building.

"Curtis Smith, from Coatesville, came directly into the justice center and pulled out a knife and attacked a deputy sheriff, slashing him," District Attorney Tom Hogan said.

Another deputy then opened fire, striking Smith, said Hogan. Smith, 34, received first aid at the scene before being taken to Paoli Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
A uniformed man with a bandaged hand could be seen on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. Hogan said that sheriff's deputy was treated for wounds to his arm and hand.

Luckily no one else was hurt.

"The sheriffs did their jobs, the lockdown went perfectly," said Hogan

Hogan identified Smith as the same man who allegedly jumped the outer perimeter of the White House back in March and was detained by Secret Service.
Smith was set to face burglary, assault and harassment charges at a preliminary hearing -- that has been continued multiple times -- in October stemming from a May domestic assault arrest, according to court records. He also pleaded guilty in late May to traffic violation.

Attorney Lewis Hannah III, who represented Smith in the domestic violence case, called his client's death "really tragic."
"He was a truck driver," Hannah said. "He worked every day, had a family, a wife, you know, you would have never have thought.

Hannah said his client was supposed to obtain counseling before the next hearing and that's why Smith went to the courthouse Tuesday. "He had no terrorist claim or anything like that," he said.
Court staff heard at least three gunshots coming from the lobby, said Sara Finneran, a retired staff support employee who was visiting her former coworkers at the time of the shooting.

N4bn loan: Rivers investigating panel summons ex-council chairmen

N4bn loan: Rivers investigating panel summons ex-council chairmen

The judicial commission of inquiry investigating the administration of former governor Rotimi Amaechi over the sale of assets and other matters has summoned ex-council chairmen and a former Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Emmanuel Chinda, to appear before it on Friday, August 28, 2015.

The commission had alleged that those invited to appear before it were involved in the purported diversion of N2bn being part of a N4bn agric loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
However, the former commissioner for agriculture had gone to the Rivers State High Court, on Tuesday, seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining the commission and the Commissioner of Police from inviting, arresting or requiring him to appear before the panel.

Following the non-appearance of Chinda and the former council chairmen at Tuesday’s sitting of the panel, the Chairman of the commission of inquiry, Justice George Omeriji, directed that they appear before the panel on August 28 or risk being arrested by the police.

Omeriji also directed that the commission’s directive summoning the former council chairmen and the ex-agric commissioner should be published in the state-owned newspaper, Nigerian Tide.
He said:

“It is very clear that all the persons mentioned above have failed to appear before this commission to give evidence or tender any document to enable the commission to come up with the truth of the matter.
“I have also considered the prayers of the counsel for the commission, urging the commission to ensure that the persons mentioned above appear before this commission.
“This commission is a disciplined commission. I have decided not to involve the police yet in the service of the summons on the persons mentioned above. The commission has decided to accept the alternative prayer of the counsel and is, hereby, making the following order:
“There shall be a publication in the Nigerian Tide, summoning all the above-mentioned persons to appear before the commission on Friday, August 28, 2015. And this publication is to be taken as adequate notice to the persons to appear before the commission on August 28, 2015,” Omeriji said.
However, the former commissioner for Agriculture, who is one of those allegedly involved in the diversion of the CBN’s Agric loan, prayed the Rivers State High Court to restrain the panel, which is the (1st respondent), and four others, from summoning, arresting and requesting him to appear before it.
Chinda, through his counsel, Mr. Ken Asuwete, also urged the court to declare that the respondents violated his constitutional right to fair hearing provided by Section 36 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 as amended.

Chinda stated:
“A declaration that the respondents had unlawfully tried, adjudged and condemned the applicant in the media from as early as 7am of Friday the 21st day of August 2015, without serving the requisite summons and all processes of complaint or memoranda as required by law.
“A declaration that the counsel to the commission deliberately failed to inform the commission that no attempt known to law was explored before the media was surreptitiously engage to publish the name of the applicant in a way and manner that has defamed his character before he is to appear before the commission.”

Arik Air: NDLEA probes Airline attendant caught with N105m cocaine

Arik Air: NDLEA probes Airline attendant caught with N105m cocaine

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday night stormed the headquarters of Arik Air in Ikeja Lagos following the arrest in London of a crew member of the airline for allegedly being in possession of cocaine.
The Arik crew member, identified by the anti-narcotics agency as Chika Egwu Udensi, was arrested on Monday night by operatives of the United Kingdom Border Force with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine in London.
The NDLEA agents were said to have searched Udensi’s latest Range Rover parked on the airline’s premises. Arik spokesman, Adebanji Ola, confirmed the visit by the NDLEA’s operatives.

Udensi was arrested at the London Heathrow Airport shortly after an Arik Air flight W3101 that departed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, touched down in the UK.

2 years ago two crew members of the Arik Air were similarly nabbed by the UK Border Force in London for the same offence.
Officials of the NDLEA on Tuesday put the street value of the drug found with the suspect at £350,000 (N105m).

Arik Air on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of its cabin crew member by the UK Border Force.

The airline, in a statement by Ola, read:
“A member of Arik Air cabin crew was on Monday night arrested at the Heathrow Airport, London, by the UK Border Force in connection with alleged possession of item suspected to be a banned substance.
“The airline is presently carrying out its private investigation to determine how the cabin crew member came about the suspected banned substance.
“Arik Air will also be cooperating fully with the UK authorities and other appropriate agencies in their investigations.”
“The airline again reaffirms its commitment to the fight against drug and illicit substances trafficking and will not tolerate the use of any of its aircraft or crew for the courier of banned items and substances.
“Arik Air carries out very stringent checks on all members of staff and its travelling guests ahead of all flights. The airline will continue to focus its attention on measures to prevent the possibility of any future similar incidents.
“Arik Air is a responsible Nigerian company, always seeking to maintain and uphold the integrity and proud reputation of the nation.”
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mr. Ahmadu Giade, on Tuesday ordered investigation into the operations of Arik Air following the development.
The Nigerian anti-narcotics agency in a statement said that it had notified the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom of the arrest.

Giade said
“The agency will carry out full scale investigation into this case to ascertain those behind the criminal act. We shall work closely with our international collaborators on the matter. Arik Airline will be sanctioned if found wanting.
“The agency shall invoke section 25 of the NDLEA Act against the airline, which states that it shall be the duty of every commercial carrier to take reasonable precaution to ensure that its means of transport are not used in the commission of offences under this Act.
“Every commercial carrier is expected to comply with appropriate security measures at points of entry and exit in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other customs control areas, to prevent unauthorised cargo in its means of transportation.
“The law refers to the precautionary measures to include training of personnel, promotion of integrity of their personnel, submission of cargo manifests in advance, use of tamper-resistant, individually verifiable seals on containers and reporting to the agency at the earliest opportunity all suspicious circumstances relating to drug trafficking.
“Nigeria has a cordial working relationship with the United Kingdom in drug control. This has resulted to a drastic reduction in the number of arrests made in the United Kingdom from flights originating from Nigeria over the years.”

Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume promotes transphobia

Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume promotes transphobia

Halloween is a long way off but one costume already has emerged as controversial.
Several retailers are offering Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costumes featuring variations of the ensemble worn by the transgender trailblazer for her iconic Vanity Fair cover.

Critics say the costume mocks the transgender community and promotes transphobia by reducing Jenner to a stereotype. An online petition singles out pop-up store Spirit Halloween and urges the retailer to stop selling it.
“Do not turn Caitlyn Jenner into a costume. Your profit will only lead to greater transphobia and marginalization of an already at-risk community,” the petition says.
The retailer has no intention of pulling the costume from stores or its website, Spirit Halloween spokeswoman Lisa Barr said.

“At Spirit Halloween we create a wide range of costumes that are often based on celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes. Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and our Caitlyn-inspired costume reflects just that,” Barr said in an email.

Wholesale Halloween Costumes also offers a “Unisex Call Me Caitlyn Costume” that comes with shorts, wig, padded top and “Call Me Caitlyn” pageant sash.
Though it might be possible in a limited context to don the costume in a tasteful way, that’s not likely to happen, transgender advocates say. Here are some reasons they say it’s offensive:

Spirit Halloween and WholesaleCostumes.com are known for selling humorous, tongue-in-cheek costumes, from pizza slice to one-night stand. Others costumes, like sexy noble Indian sweetheart or down for the count, might be considered controversial or tasteless.

WholesaleCostume.com’s “Unisex Call Me Caitlyn” lives in the “humorous” section of men’s costumes, along with Sock Monkey, red beer pong cup and other costumes meant to “surprise people with your great sense of humor,” according to the category description.
Jenner’s inclusion in such company is a clear mockery, said Kylar W. Broadus, director of the group’s Transgender Civil Rights Project.

“It’s really clear that the costume is meant to make fun of Caitlyn and transgender people by putting it under the category of humor,” Broadus said.
And, for those in the transgender community lacking Jenner’s financial security, reality is anything but humorous.

“We’re in a moment of ongoing violence and crisis in the community,” he said. “It’s a real affront to the community to think you can make fun of transgender people and go to a party dressed like Caitlyn when we’re struggling to survive on a daily basis.

President Buhari blames escalation of subsidies on past Government

President Buhari blames escalation of subsidies on past Government

President  Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, accused past administrations of allowing the infrastruc-ture in the oil sector to collapse to allow their cronies steal by importing refined products.

The President made the accusation while speaking at a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, lamented “the current situation in which Nigeria is forced to spend billions of Naira annually on alleged subsidies for petroleum products.”
A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, quoted the President as saying:
“the escalation of petroleum subsidy payments over recent years was due to the deliberate neglect of the nation’s refineries, oil pipelines and other related infrastructure to allow the importation of petroleum products and corruption to thrive.”
According to the statement, the President restated his huge disappointment with the way Nigeria’s oil industry has been run since he left office as Petroleum Minister and Military Head of State, noting that he was convinced that if the development of the country’s domestic refining capacity and petroleum products distribution network had kept pace with national demand, there would not have been any need for the huge subsidies currently being paid to importers.
“They allowed the infrastructure to collapse so that their cronies can steal by bringing in refined products from overseas,” President Buhari said.
He told the chairman and members of RMAFC, who availed him of their view on the vexed issued of petroleum subsidy payments, to go “back to the drawing board.”
