Displaced people celebrated in Borno state as troops of the Nigerian military under the Armed Forces Special Force (AFSF) cleared all trace of Boko Haram occupation from Gudumbari, the headquarters of Guzamala local government area of Borno state.

Gudumbari is one of the remote local government areas in northern Borno state that was sacked and occupied by Boko Haram fighters.
It was once reclaimed in the past, but the insurgents crept back and reoccupy the area after the troops had moved.

But with the Tuesday take over of Gudumbari after a victorious operation by the Nigerian AFSF troops, the news sent wave of jubilation from displaced residents of the area who were all in IDP camps in Maiduguri.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, confirmed the development in a press statement.

”It was in continuation of the clearance of the remnants of recalcitrant members of Boko Haram terrorists in the various nooks and corners of the north east, the Armed Forces Special Forces (AFSF) carried out successful clearance of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in Gudumbali general area”, Colonel
Usman, who is Acting Director Army Public Relations, said.

Aisami Goni, an IDP from Guzamala said, ”we give glory to God for the good news we are hearing about soldiers’ victory over Boko Haram terrorists in Guumbari; now our hope of going back home is assured”.

President Buhari under pressure to reshuffle cabinet

President Buhari under pressure to reshuffle cabinet

Buhari under pressure to reshuffle cabinet

Following recent happenings, President Muhammadu Buhari, is poised to effect some changes in the federal cabinet in the next couple of weeks.

The president is said to be under intense pressure from some ‘powerful’ forces, including his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to “undertake a cleansing of the Federal Executive Council (FEC),” it was gathered.

As part of the impending changes, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, and her foreign affairs counterpart, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, may be moved to other ministries.

Also, the tripod of the Works, Housing and Power Ministry under former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, may be split into three. Besides, the Transportation Ministry under Mr. Rotimi Amaechi might also be split into Transport and Aviation Ministries.

Senator Hadi Sirika may fully man the Aviation Ministry if it is eventually severed from transportation.
For Fashola, whose volume of work is considered ‘unwieldy,’ he has already engaged the man who served as his Works Commissioner in Lagos State, Toyin Hamzat, as his Special Adviser on Works, while equally appointing Faud Oki as Adviser on Housing and Urban Development. Oki served Fashola’s government in Lagos.

Specifically, a source privy to the move hinted that the Finance Minister is seen as being ‘overwhelmed’ by her position and may give way for someone from the South-East considered more ‘grounded’ in economic and fiscal matters.

But it could not be confirmed if the plan to move the Finance Minister to another ministry has anything to do with the cold war between her and the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd).

Contrary to established practice where the CG of Customs reported to the Finance Minister, the former military administrator of Kaduna State reports directly to the Presidency.
The Finance Minister has had it rough with about three ministers whose suggestions on the possible solutions to stem the nose-diving economy, especially the weak naira, have been interpreted as undermining her job.
She was also said to have had an altercation with Transport Minister, Amaechi, while on a presidential delegation to China.

Adeosun, the immediate past Finance Commissioner in Ogun State, who rode on the back of Governor Ibikunle Amosun to get the ministerial position, is not alone in this category.
Onyeama, who mans the Foreign Affairs Ministry, is likely to be affected in the cabinet change.

Already, the president recently appointed a former member of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as his Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs.
“Truly, both finance and foreign affairs ministers are having issues. The expected changes may affect them,” a minister said.

The education minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has also come under heavy criticism that he lacks the requisite knowledge and experience to supervise the ministry compared to a renowned educationist and former vice chancellor, Prof. Anthony Anwuka, who is junior minister in the ministry. Adamu is a journalist by profession.

Though it could not be independently confirmed if some ministers will be dropped, feelers are strong that the number of ministers of state might be reduced in the event that the president bows to the pressure currently on him as some of them are likely to man the split ministries under the envisaged regime.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, could not be reached for comments as he did not pick calls made to his mobile line. He had yet to respond to a text message on the issue either.

Regardless, a source in the forefront of the president’s election on March 28, 2015, confided that a group of northern politicians had met Buhari before he travelled out to Saudi Arabia and Qatar on the need to ‘do an urgent thing’ about his cabinet.

On the delegation to the president, according to the source, were two former governors, now senators, a serving northern governor and two traditional rulers.
The source said: “We cannot pretend that all is well, especially when there are brazen acts that can bring disrepute to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“From what we have discovered, the need for the president to reorganise his cabinet is becoming increasingly necessary by the day, particularly when there are signs that some incompetent persons have found their ways to the cabinet.

“This is not to disparage or denigrate persons, but the truth need to be told this time that there are some round pegs in square holes and the need to arrest or stem this tide is now because, from all indications, if nothing is done now, more issues that will ridicule the president and government are likely to emerge in the next few months.

“For God’s sake, what is a journalist doing as education minister and supervising a professor of education? Is that thinkable at all? And you think people should not talk to the president? “So, the need to urgently do something came up and a few concerned persons had to approach the president to sound him out that something urgent must be done as far as his cabinet is concerned, those found to be incompetent must pave the way for those who can make things happen.

“In fairness to the last administration, aside the plundering of the nation’s finances, it had one of the best economic management team with sound ministers of finance at different times.
“We are in an era that only ideas can make things work and, from our assessment of some of the ministers, they are just filling slots without inputs from them and we think such era is gone.

“It is our duty to let him know and it is his responsibility to do the needful because the whole world is watching us as a nation as we are battling with our economy and the security challenges.”

It was learnt that Adamu may be moved to man the Information Ministry while Lai Mohammed moves to a new ministry. (Someone said Lai Mohammed has been feeding Nigerians with lies)

The president is said be considering taking out Culture and Tourism from Information. Though the pressure on Buhari to effect changes in his cabinet could not be confirmed as a pan-northern agenda, coordinator of the Concerned Northern Professionals, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, saw nothing wrong in the development.
He alleged that there are saboteurs around Buhari in the Presidential Villa.

“There is nothing wrong in the need to rejig the cabinet because the bulk stops on the president’s table. So, if there are serious needs, which I think are many, the president should go ahead.
“For instance, the unjustifiable negotiation between the communications minister and MTN over the fine slammed on it by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), to my mind, was criminally done because the minister does not have such powers to do so. It is an act of sabotage that must be sanctioned by the president.

“There are several of such persons around the president in the villa some of whom without official designations but are there obstructing and sabotaging and even undermining serving ministers.
“Such persons must be weeded out and the earlier that is done the better for the president because without such moves, the man will not succeed as president.

“In a civilised nation, all those who had a hand in the budget scandal would have resigned. But even if they do not, we are ready to encourage the president to cleanse such bad eggs,” Mohammed said.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is also worried about the slow pace of work of the administration since it came into office in May last year.

A member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, in an interview expressed concerns that there appears to be a lull in governance. This is even as he confirmed that a reshuffle of FEC was necessary for optimum performance.

“What we are seeing appears to be a lull in governance. From the outset, it was a wrong move that the president on his own without considering the party, picked persons to man ministries.
“If, for instance, party leaders were consulted, who would have agreed that works, housing and power be given to one person? The result is that today, so many files are unattended to and this is not good enough for our party,” he said.

He added that the planned reorganisation of the cabinet could take any form without necessarily increasing the number of ministries as presently composed.
“No, it is not true. There’s nothing like that on the table to the best knowledge of the party,” Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, APC national secretary, said.

Buhari’s government is a 'one-chance' bus - Gov Fayose

The audacious Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, is here again. This time he has described the Buhari-led government as a "one-chance bus". The governor made this known in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, while reacting to the recent proclamation by Buhari and the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the government cannot fulfill it's election promises.

His words
"Everything Buhari and his party promised Nigerians when they were looking for votes, they have denied and it won’t be a surprise if one day, Buhari comes out to even deny that he was elected on the platform of APC. Nigerians have now realised that they are inside a ‘One Chance Bus’ because Buhari and his APC have disowned their entire campaign promises by disowning their campaign document titled; ‘My Covenant with Nigerians. This document that they disowned in August, last year contained everything they promised Nigerians and if today, President Buhari chose faraway Qatar to announce that he won’t pay the N5,000 promised unemployed youths and Lai Mohammed is here in Nigeria saying no job was promised, no one should be surprised. Rather, Nigerians can only begin to pray that God, who rescued Daniel from den of lions will rescue us from this Buhari/APC one chance bus that we have entered.”

Court orders Obasanjo, Yar'Adua and Jonathan's government to account for stolen funds

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former president Goodluck Jonathan and late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's government to account for all the stolen money they recovered during their administrations.

Delivering judgement in a Freedom of Information suit filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) today March 1st, the presiding judge, Justice M.B. Idris, ruled that successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999 “breached the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability for failing to disclose details about the spending of recovered stolen public funds, including on a dedicated website.”

He thereafter ordered that President Buhari “ensures that his government, and the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan account fully for all recovered loot.”.

Details ordered by the court to be made public include: information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets by each government; the amount of recovered stolen public assets spent by each government as well as the objects of such spending and the projects on which such funds were spent.

Pastor Explains Why He Butchered Wife To Death In Imo State

Pastor Explains Why He Butchered Wife To Death In Imo State

Hmm! An acclaimed man of God and the General Overseer of the Victory Pentecostal Church located in Mbaitoli Loal Government Area of Imo State, Pastor Mark Chukwudi Etiti, has been arrested by the state police command for allegedly butchering his banker wife, Perpetua Udoka, to death.

According to reports, Etiti an indigene of Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area of the state, is a secondary school drop out and was a wheelbarrow pusher before he got the 'call', had allegedly deceived Udoka into marrying him after she went to him to seek God's intervention over whom to choose out of three suitors who wanted to marry her including a medical doctor, a fellow banker and a public servant.

But Etiti told her that none of them men was the chosen one for her except himself, and she ended up marrying him.
According to sources, the Udoka’s family was not particularly happy about the union considering Pastor Mark’s educational background and social status but she stood her ground by telling them he was God's choice for her, not knowing that the man she loved and got married to would turn round to be her killer.

Account of a close relative of the murdered woman:
"Unknown to Udoka, the biggest attraction was her lucrative career at the time. Just within a space of twenty months, a car was bought, a landed property and a shop was paid for all in the name of the husband Pastor Mark Chukwudi Etiti.

Udoka built a house for her Pastor husband on bank loan. She did a lot both for the husband’s family and the husband himself on loans including borrowing money on behalf of the husband to the extent that repayments become a serious challenge and she ultimately lost the bank job.

It became a pitiable situation better imagined, after she lost her job. Udoka became a punching bag. On many occasions, the mother in-law will come all the way from the village to order Udoka out of the very house she built.
Udoka had sustained various degrees of injuries inflicted on her by the same husband she picked from the gutters. She was hospitalized severally. The mother in-law had once threatened that it is either Udoka leaves the son alive or the deceased body will be carted away like nobody and her threat came to pass after all.

Udoka’s thirteen year old daughter had once reported to the police of how the father had beaten the mum to stupor on the fear that the mum was dead.
The first brutal cutlass injuries on Udoka were recorded in 2013. This time, Udoka’s family thought it was indeed enough.

The matter was formally taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nigerian Police in Owerri, who documented the evidences, detained the pastor and later released him.
The family had actually concluded plans to forcefully relocate her and her children after so many refusals from her before the brutal murder of Udoka by the same man who she gave three beautiful children."

Account by the couple's teenage daughter:
"On that faithful day, my mummy in her usual manner, woke up around 5.00am, got us ready for school, gave us our food, asked me to take my younger sister to her school and return the key to her in the church, while she left for our church early morning prayer session.
I finished dressing up and told my daddy who was in his room that I’m off to school. He asked me to lock the gate to our house from outside and I asked why and he shouted me down. I did exactly that and returned the key to my mum in the church. I went back to my mummy’s shop around 1:00pm and could not meet her in the shop.

That was unusual knowing fully well when we usually come back from school. I called her line and she was not picking. I asked her neighbors and they said she told them my daddy called her. I then took my siblings along to the house.
On getting to the house, every place looked deserted. We usually access the house through the kitchen door, but that faithful day, the kitchen door was locked. I called my dad to ask him if he has seen mummy. He asked me where we are and I said we are at home and the doors were all locked.

Within 2 minutes, daddy appeared. Unusual of daddy, he decided to follow the back door instead of the usual front kitchen door and asked me to stay outside. I could not comprehend my father’s body language and I quickly followed him and went straight to my mum’s room while he made his way to his room.

The sight of flowing blood in mummy’s room got me more frightened and when I shouted blood, my dad ran straight to the kitchen where my mum’s body was used to block the kitchen door, the same door my daddy strategically avoided on entering the compound.
I later saw my mum’s phone near the kitchen window with my daddy’s 3 missed calls on the phone.
My daddy has always been chasing us about with cutlass all the time. He has severally threatened to kill mummy and her people won’t do anything. The last time, I thought my mummy was dead when she was brutally beaten with cutlass by my daddy and blood was gushing like water.
I called my uncle and he was not responding. I then went to police to report him and he was arrested. Two days before he killed mummy, I saw him from the bathroom cutting the ceiling of our house.

The following morning, I heard him telling my mother that armed robbers came to the house and that the entered through the ceiling. He was showing mummy the note he claimed they brought which read;
“Pastor Mark be careful, this is to tell you we can come and go”. I told mummy that I saw dad cutting that place two days back and was not done by any armed robber. I told mummy we should go to my aunty’s place that dad is up to something but mummy refused. Now look at where she has brought us to. Daddy has simply fulfilled his wish and God will judge him.”

Pastor Mark is currently in detention and the state police command has vowed to do everything for justice to prevail.

Skipper Enyeama And Emenike Out of Super Eagles

Lile of France Goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has said his days with the Super Eagles are permanently over, after reports linked him with a return to the team.

The former Super Eagles skipper quit the national team he served for close to 17 years on October 8, 2015 after a row with coach Sunday Oliseh in Belgium.

Oliseh announced his resignation from the team last Friday, with coach Samson Siasia taking over the reigns in an interim basis. Enyeama and coach Siasia also had a showdown during his first spell with the Eagles.

Speaking yesterday on BrillaFM, Enyeama said:“I don’t want to talk about this issue again. I think my earlier decision stands,”

Similarly, former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, has insisted that he is done with the national team and will not make a return under Samson Siasia.

The player, who is currently on loan at West Ham in England, retired from international football last year, while Sunday Oliseh was still the handler of the Eagles. “I’m done with the Super Eagles, and I am making it clear again that I am not going back. It’s my decision and I am not going to reverse it, I am sorry if I have offended anybody regarding this but no Eagles return for me,” he said, according to SportingLife.

“Like I said, I didn’t quit because of anybody, it was a personal decision. Oliseh didn’t force me out of the Super Eagles as it was reported, I don’t need anybody to speak with me before I take a decision. It was my decision and I won’t reverse it.”

Emenike made his debut five years ago for Nigeria and was top scorer at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, which the Eagles won.

Court orders EFCC and Nigeria Army to release former President Jonathan's ADC

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the EFCC and the Nigerian Army to release former President Goodluck Jonathan's Aide-de-Camp, Col. Ojogbane Adegbe on liberal terms. Adegbe had in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Gudu on February 25th, argued that he has been in EFCC custody since February 11 and has not been charged with any offence.

Justice Yusuf Halilu while delivering judgement on the suit this morning, ordered EFCC to release Adegbe pending his arraignment before a competent court.

The judge held that Adegbe's continued detention is unconstitutional as it violates Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution. The former ADC was invited from the UK where he was by the Nigerian Army to answer some questions relating to the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.

Please o! let justice prevail.
