EFCC Arrests Diezani’s Husband Alison Madueke

 

 
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have today, arrested Mr. Alison Amaechina Madueke, the husband of the embattled former Minister for Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Mr. Madueke was arrested this morning by EFCC agents in Abuja for illegally laundering more than $600,000 through his personal accounts.

According to an EFCC source, “[Mr. Madueke] was arrested this morning [in Abuja] and released on administrative bail.” The EFCC also seized Mr. Madueke’s passport and placed him under caution.

This is the latest development in an ongoing global investigation into the financial activity of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Maduke, who was arrested last year in London for financial crimes. Mrs. Madueke was at the helm of the petroleum industry in Nigeria during a time of unprecedented theft, according to analysts.

We hope the truth will come out some day!

Niger Delta University Shuts Down After Students' Protest


 


On Tuesday, Niger Delta University, NDU, located on Wilberforce Island, Amassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa State shut down following a violent protest by students.  The students were demonstrating against series rules regarding the pass mark required for them to graduate from the institution. 

The aggrieved students, who hailed from the Faculty of Engineering, felt threatened by the new set of rules, hence, their unrest, of which they demand that the new rules be reviewed and changed.  

Almost all car traffic going in and out of NDU was obstructed by the student protesters.  Several members of the local community were seen watching the demonstration unfold from a distant.

The Vice Chancellor of NDU Professor Humphrey Ogoni issued a circular letter to the student body in response to the developments on campus. The letter requested that the students immediately take a mid-semester break, in order to avoid any breakdown of the rule of law on campus.

The VC ordered the student protesters to vacate the campus no later than 3 P.M. on Tuesday. He added that they would be informed when they could resume for their studies.

With respect to the students' grievances, the VC stated that he had already sent a memo to faculty encouraging them to review the new rules which were created by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC).
Professor Ogoni also noted his belief that once the review was conducted tranquility would return to the campus.  He urged the students to remain calm while the university examined their grievances.

The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed former u-17 team coach Emmanuel Amuneke as the new Flying Eagles coach after his brilliant strides in last year's FIFA U-17 tournament in Chile.

His appointment was confirmed by the football body who passed a communique after it's executive board meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. The left footer, Amuneke, who was named African Footballer of the Year in 1994 will be ably assisted by Kabiru Baleria and Emeka Amadi as assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer respectively.

Nike fires Manny Pacquiao over anti-gay comments

 
 
Boxer Manny Pacquiao has been fired by Nike as a brand ambassador over his anti-gay comments. Nike issued a statement this evening saying;
"We find Manny Pacquiao's comments abhorrent. Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao."
 What a pity!
