Senator Saraki’s Ordeal Can Break Up The APC – Dr. Doyin Okupe

Senator Saraki’s Ordeal Can Break Up The APC – Dr. Doyin Okupe

The former aide to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe has said that the ongoing ordeal of the Senate President, Dr Saraki is ominous and dangerous and may lead to a tragic end if wisdom and tack is not applied. Dr. Okupe made the post on his Facebook page. He wrote;

“To ordinary watchers of Nigerian politics, the ongoing ordeal of the Senate President, Dr saraki may be an interesting soap opera. But to more discerning minds it is nothing short of a tragic comedy.Over the years Nigerian politicians fail over and over again to convince anybody that they actually learnt anything from our checkered political history. This is why we have had many Republics in our national history.
Wiston Churchill said " failure to act when action would have been simple and effective, lack of good reasoning, and confusion of counsel, all these lead to endless repetition of history."
I am personally not a supporter of Dr Saraki and for good reason. He spearheaded the demolition of the PDP and the eventual catastrophic electoral misfortune of the Goodluck Jonathan 's Presidency.
Neither am I a detractor of the Senate President. However as a veteran politician I accept that all is fair in love and in war and as they say the end justifies the means.
But what is currently going on is ominous and dangerous and will require Wisdom and extreme tact from all the dramatis personnel.
I did in the past predict that the APC will break up, but that was before the APC formed the government. Now that they are in government, it is not in my interest or that of any reasonable or patriotic Nigerian to wish that they break up.
A break up of the APC now has the capacity to undermine the current political process and the entire political dispensation we are passing through to the detriment of the country and the innocent masses.
As it is now, while the law must be allowed to take its course, men with less passion, and more sense on ALL sides must rise to the occasion to manage this delicate matter in the overall interest of our Nation, our democracy and our people. Remembering always that an ill wind does not blow anyone any good.”

105-Year-Old Man Sets New Running Record As Oldest Competitive Sprinter, Longs To Beat Usain Bolt (Photos)

On Wednesday, Hidekichi Miyazaki broke his own record for Oldest competitive sprinter after running in the 100m at the Kyoto Masters Athletics Autumn Competition in Kyoto, Japan.

Miyazaki was born on 22 September 1910 and has just celebrated his 105th birthday.

The impressive centenarian finished the race in just 42.22 seconds, greeted by his proud great-grandchildren. Nevertheless, Mr Miyazaki is often referred to as the “Golden Bolt” because he boldly imitates Usain Bolt’s renowned lightening pose.

He longs for the opportunity to challenge the legendary Jamaican sprinter (who holds the fastest 100 m record at 9.58 secs), and when asked about Bolt's recent successes at the Athletics World Championships, Miyazaki jokes: "He hasn't raced me yet!"

Senator Saraki Reacts To Reports That He Was Attacked Today

L-R: Senator Saraki, Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad and retired Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore at the prayer ground

The Media Office of the Senate President has denied reports that Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was attacked at the Eid Prayer Ground on Thursday during the prayers to mark the Eid-el-Kabir in Ilorin, Kwara State.

In a statement by the Media Adviser, Yusuph Olaniyonu, the office said the report was ” totally false and a figment of the imagination of those behind the story because the protest was never targeted at him, neither was any missile hurled at him.”
” The Senate President arrived at the venue this morning without any incident, prayed with other Muslim faithful, including the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ali Ahmad and a former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Alfa Belgore, among others.
” Before the Senate President left the prayer ground, he spoke to reporters who had asked him about his message for Nigerians to mark the Eid-el-Kabir.
” We want to say that nothing can be further from the truth as the Senate President was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.
” We however observe that there was a protest allegedly staged by local government employees over purported non-payment of salaries which hoodlums attempted to hijacked but this development was immediately curtailed by security agents.
” Therefore, to say that the Senate President was attacked at the venue of the prayers is The Kwara State Government has since issued a statement in which it stated that majority of the workers in the state have received their salaries and that those yet to receive theirs will do so on Monday as Thursday and Friday of this week are public holidays.”

Kylie Jenner Makes Tyga Cancel Tour - Checkout The Reason

Kylie Jenner Makes Tyga Cancel Tour - Checkout The Reason

Chai woman power! Who would have thought that small 18 year old reality star has such power over her much older man. Tyga has cancelled his much publicized tour set to start tomorrow in Sao Paulo on Kylie’s wishes - and fans say it is because she is worried about him taking a liking to bootylicious locals.

Tyga was due to play three eagerly awaited gigs in the tropical country this week, but according to reports in Brazil, Tyga is facing a $400,000 fine for breaching the contract with fans labeling him a puppy rather than a Tyga and others claiming that Kylie wears the pant in their relationship.

In a statement, the furious local organizers of the tour said Tyga’s reps had informed them 'he would not be coming to Brazil for his shows because he was stopped by his current girlfriend, media personality and socialite Kylie Jenner.'
'We are very upset in finding out an artist lacks the professionalism and the love for Brazilian fans, and allows something personal to interfere with his work schedule,' added Alexandre Stocco, of AS Productions, and Andre Marques, of Amarx Productions.
Stocco said they were informed of the change in plans earlier this week.

Ex President Goodluck Jonathan Explains How HID Awolowo Brought Him Out Of Hiding

Ex President Goodluck Jonathan Explains How HID Awolowo Brought Him Out Of Hiding

Former President Goodluck Jonathan said the death of HID Awolowo forced him and his wife out of their ‘hiding’ place as they intended to stay out of the public for at least a year.
The former president in company of his wife Patience Jonathan visited the Ikenne country home of the Awolowos to pay tributes to their matriarch, Hannah Idowu Dideolu, who passed on last Saturday.

Condoling with the family, the former President noted that HID Awolowo enjoyed a rare privilege by living extra 29 years, when compared to the biblical prescription of three scores and 10.
“My wife and I are not mourning because Mama has passed on. For me, we believe that it’s a rare privilege to add extra 29 years to the biblical three scores and 10; it’s not easy. Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have been mourning but Mama was a rare mother. She was a woman of virtue described in the Bible and she was a mother to all of us.
A mother that her milk of kindness we still need, her milk of encouragement we still need, her milk of advice we still need and today she’s no more with us. We, just like her immediate children, and indeed this country, have missed her. Within this period, my wife and I have been hiding; we don’t even go out. We thought we’ll be hiding for at least 12 months.
But in this particular case, we cannot hide. So, we have come for the condolence and to encourage our brothers and sisters that we are together. God brought her for all of us. She just had to be the direct mother of a few but she was a mother to all. We shall mourn more than even the direct children would.”

What Thugs Did To Me In Bayelsa - Gov Oshiomhole

What Thugs Did To Me In Bayelsa - Gov Oshiomhole

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday, narrated how he escaped from the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, venue of the 2015 governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, after he was held hostage for hours during the exercise which was marred by violence.

Oshiomhole, who spoke with journalists on Wednesday, however, accused a former governor of Bayelsa State and chieftain of the APC, Mr. Timipre Sylva, of hijacking the primary.

He also dismissed media reports that the party’s primary held and that Silva emerged as the party’s candidate.

The governor said the electoral process was hijacked by thugs, allegedly supervised by the former governor, who insisted the exercise should be conducted without accreditation.

He said, “I was appointed with six other members from the APC to conduct the governorship primary in Bayelsa State. The exercise took place yesterday and, somehow, thugs took over the sports complex where the exercise was to take place.
“They practically prevented the actual delegates from participating and as a result, we could not proceed with the exercise. The committee was virtually held hostage, including my humble self and, this time, they were supervised unfortunately by one of the aspirants, the former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, who said to my face and to the committee that we could not leave the venue of the conference unless we conducted the exercise without accreditation, as prescribed by the national secretariat.”
Oshiomhole wondered why the former governor insisted on his own position rather than that prescribed by the national leadership of the APC. He said,
“Whereas all the aspirants agreed with the guidelines, it was only Sylva that did not. He rejected the mode of accreditation and chose to accuse the national secretariat of formulating the guidelines to frustrate his ambition.
“Every effort made to reassure him and direct his attention to the fact that same guidelines had been used (before) and that they are standard guidelines that would be used in future elections fell on deaf ears.”
Oshiomhole quoted Sylva to have said, “We cannot leave the place unless we are ready to conduct the election without recourse to accreditation – as stipulated by the party.”
The governor, however, maintained that, “I was not in a position to amend the guidelines, nor was I ready to submit to his intimidation.”
He said it became clear to him that he (Sylva) had mobilised thugs in collusion with the police, and that the thugs found their way into the stadium – without accreditation.

Oshiomhole added that the thugs “insisted that we must conduct the election based on their own rules.” He also accused the police of compromise as Sylva insisted that the state executive must conduct the election and not the national body.
