Obasanjo Denies Endorsing Buhari For President.
Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd) |
The purported endorsement of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential candidate for next month's election by Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo made rounds in the national dailies as the former even
commented on the endorsement on CNN.
Obasanjo has denied
endorsing any candidate. He made the clarification known during the launch of his 1,500-page autobiography, ‘My Watch’ in London,
“I didn’t endorse or unendorse him as such. What I said and I will say it again and I will do it: when the time comes for me to vote, I will consider the track record of all the candidates that are contesting and I will assess and based on my assessment, whoever I believe has the best track record to perform the job of the Nigerian president will have my vote.
“If anybody should know what the job of the Nigerian president requires, I should know. Nigeria has a population of 180 million and you wouldn’t have anybody other than one person or two persons that can run the affairs of Nigeria.
“There are millions who can run the affairs of Nigeria who are not even coming out. So why should you die on behalf of one who is probably performing as a mediocre? What the hell are we talking about? “If you love Nigeria, you would look for the best for Nigeria and I don’t believe that at this point in time we have the best for Nigeria.”
Nigerians will decide who will take the mantle of leadership after next month's general elections.

The truth on Benin monarch's death.
Benin Traditional Council Speaks On Oba of Benin's Death.
Oba of Benin Kingdom |
Earlier today, there have been speculations
that His Royal Majesty, Omo n’Oba n’Edo
Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa, the Oba of Benin, had passed on after been on the
throne for 36 years.
The Secretary to
the council, Mr. Frank Irabor, explained that it was the responsibility of the
council to issue a formal statement, if such a development occurs.
Mr Irabor said, “They have been peddling that rumour for more than a year now, because the Oba has not been coming out. If there is anything like that, there is usually a statement from the palace or from the Benin Traditional Council.”
Mr Irabor said, “They have been peddling that rumour for more than a year now, because the Oba has not been coming out. If there is anything like that, there is usually a statement from the palace or from the Benin Traditional Council.”
He also said that
the inability of President Goodluck Jonathan to see the monarch, when he
visited the palace, did not give credence to his rumoured death.
“The fact that he
has not been coming out, even when the President came last week, does not mean
that there is anything like that.” I don’t bother about rumours. I
believe in getting information from the authentic source. For more than six
months, they have been carrying the rumour,” he added.
We believe we’ll
hear from the monarch when the time comes.
