Checkout The Reason Why Buhari Chose An Outsider As Customs Boss
Chief J. Oyegun |
Fresh facts have emerged as to why President Muahmmadu Buhari appointed a
non-Customs officer as the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs
Service (NCS), even as divergent views have greeted the move.
While some applaud the appointment of Hameed Ali, a retired Army
Colonel, to head the Customs, others describe it as a jaundiced move
that may have scathing repercussion on the service.
Daily Sun learnt senior Customs officer within the ranks of Assistant
Comptroller General (ACG) and Deputy Comptroller General (DCG), who were
beneficiaries of the old order, heavily lobbied influential politicians
to persuade the President to appoint them as the next Customs boss.
The President was said to have been saddened by the high number of
lobbyists, making a case for one officer or the other, a development
that exposes the under-belly corruption in the sensitive establishment.
President Buhari, who feels appointing any of the desperate officers,
may just be a continuation of the Dikko era, jolted them by picking a
man out of the blue.
Industry sources say a flurry of petitions against Dikko had flooded the
Presidency and having any of his DCGs or ACGs may scuttle the impending
restructuring exercise at the establishment.
A Comptroller of Customs who confided in Daily Sun said
“if you see the amount of money spent on influential politicians, you’ll know that if any of those desperate officers was picked as CGC, it will be looting galore because they must recoup their expenses or investment of you like to put it that way. But the President got high intelligence about the huge money changing hands and knew there was an ulterior motive behind it. Why spend so much money lobbying if you know your motive is to serve your country? So, he kept his plans close to his chest and shunned all the names given to him by his friends and chose a totally different man. Now, the man is expected to face his job and do it without caring on whose ox is gored. He has no one to please except the government. We won’t hear of CG’s boys, CG’s men and other anointed officers. If you do your job well, you don’t have anything to fear. I like what Buhari did”, he said. However, some industry analysts do not share the Comptroller’s view as they see the appointment of an old retired Colonel as a retrogressive strategy.

Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade Trapped On Calabar-Ikom Road. See What Happened (Photo)
Our Source, Southern City News gathered on Sunday that among those stranded was the State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, who was on his way to his hometown, Obudu, for a thanksgiving service.
It was learnt that after attempts to clear the way failed, the governor and his entourage, had to make a detour through another route to get to his destination.
No fewer than 20 trailers and 60 other vehicles were trapped in the ensuing gridlock as they could not leave the vicinity until the road was cleared in the early hours of Sunday.
A stranded commuter, Benjamin Uche, described the bad state of the road as an apology to a state that prides itself as a tourist destination.
Uche said despite an allegation that the trailer driver did not observe caution when passing through the bad spot, the road had become a threat to road users.
“We got to this spot as early as 8am on Saturday and blocked the only good portion of the road. We became stranded as more vehicles and trailers came. The scene became rowdy when the governor and his entourage also joined us for a while.
“The security men tried to clear the way but it was obvious that they could not. They had to reverse to take another route. I do not know where they took but it was obvious they knew it was not a security matter.
“This road had remained like this in the last eight years. They will only just patch some portions during the dry season and when the rain comes it goes back to this bad state.
“The government is aware of the deplorable state of this federal road and nothing is being done to rebuild the road that was constructed nearly 40 years ago. It is a disgrace to Cross River State because we are known to pride ourselves as tourist destination. Is bad road part of what tourism is all about? Cross River State should answer that question for us,” he said.It took the intervention of the Itigidi Unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps, following an order from the State Sector Commander, Mr. Ikechukwu Igwe, to clear the road, 18 hours after.
Confirming the development, Igwe told Southern City News the intervention of his men saved the situation, even as he lamented that the trailer that blocked the road was not road worthy as the tyres were incomplete.
Igwe urged motorists to be patient when they get to bad spots on the road, hinting that the trailer driver was probably impatient when he got to the bad spot.
“Road users should please, exercise patience when they get to bad spots. They should equally ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before they pass through this type of road. The road got blocked completely because of the impatience of other road users.
“That was why vehicles got stranded and the road became impassable. This thing happened on Friday night and the road was eventually cleared on Sunday morning. I had to come from Calabar to ensure that the road was cleared,” Igwe said

'APC will henceforth be fully involved in the subsequent appointments' - Chief John Oyegun
"It is too early and superficial to say the appointments were lopsided; it is too early. We are just a little over two months into the government. The appointments made so far are personal staff members of the president. And it is his prerogative to make the appointments."The chairman added, "Even though we were marginally involved in those appointments, the party will henceforth be fully involved in the subsequent appointments; that is where the supremacy of the party will come to bear. Nigerians should exercise a little patience. There will be board appointments, ministerial positions and a lot of other positions"

MUST READ! "My Stepsister And Her Husband Tricked Me And Took Egg From My Ovaries"
This is a true story of what happened to a young woman. Read carefully and draw your inference.
Here is her story:"my father is not a poor man, my father is a rich man, he is a landlord. I have an elder stepbrother who is living big in Abuja and an elder stepsister who is married to a banker living comfortably in another state. My father married my mother (an orphan) at an old age after his first wife (who gave birth to my stepbrother and sister) died. My mother passed away while she gave birth to me; 9years after my birth, my father died. I was left solely under the care of my step brother .
When I was in senior secondary school 2 , then I was 17years old, my stepbrother brought an old hausa man and demanded I should marry him; he said the man is very rich , and that if I marry him that the man will help him grow his business and that I will never regret it. I rejected his offer, i told him that I want to finish my education first. After numerous pressures from my brother to marry the man had fail, he angrily withdrew his financial aid on me, and warned me ever to call him on phone again.
I want to stepsister to complain to her, but she told me the worst thing, she told me that am not her sister, that the only connection between us is our father, and that since our father is dead, their was nothing else connecting us. She advised me to marry who ever my brother wants me to marry."
"After so many trial to survive, I had to drop out from school. I had a boyfriend then(whom later became my husband) , he was young and still managing his life, he was doing business then, but the business wasn't flourishing as expected. Rather than die alone of starvation, he demanded I come live with him, which I accepted. This was how we started living together, and started bearing children."
"After many years of no communication with my step brother and sister, one afternoon , my step sister surprised me with a visit, she said she was able to trace me through some friends. She apologies to me for everything and promised to help sponsor my kids in school up to university level, and to help my husband financially with a sum of 3million. Although, I was glad to see her again after so many years, but her new attitude was strange. I asked her what is behind her sudden generosity to me. She want down on her knees in tear and starting begging me to help her bear children. She said all that was needed is few eggs from my ovary.
I told her that even if I accept her offer, that my husband wouldn't allow that. She told me that the process will be a secret only between me, herself and her husband, and nobody else ought to know about it. After considering the tremendous offer she made to me, I accepted to help her without my husband knowledge. Later, during the weekend when my husband was home, she visited us again, brought a lot of foodstuffs and gave my husband the sum of 20,000naira, after which he demanded that my first daughter follow her to live with them, she even promised to do more. My husband unknowing the deal behind the generosity was astonished and wholeheartedly welcomed her. He sees everything as a miracle from God."
"After my husband had gone back to his work place, my stepsister and her husband came that morning to took me to a hospital , were an injection was given to me which made me lose consciousness, before I could regain myself, eggs had been collected from my ovaries and placed in a tube. The eggs were later on fertilized with the sperm of my stepsister's husband. After which the developing egg was implant into my stepsister's uterus. Everything was successful.
My stepsister's husband gave me 30,000naira that day before I left the hospital. The baby started growing in my stepsister's womb, everyone was thanking God for finally given her a baby after 11years of marriage. She went for thanks given in the church. Nobody knew what happened, I kept my mouth shout as I had promised."
"Few months after the implant, I called her on phone to remind her of her own part of the deal, she told me she hasn't forgotten . That I should hold on until after she had delivered. I accepted.
It's three and half years now after her successful delivery of a bouncing baby boy, yet nothing had been done for me. She had brought back my first daughter staying with her , claiming she is possessed by an evil spirit and making her son fall sick all the time.
I have gone to her house several times demanding she fulfills her promise to me, but she kept telling me that she and her husband had no money, that they will help me whenever they got the money. The last time I called her on phone i pleaded on her to forget about the 3million she promised to give my husband, she should just sponsor my girls to university level as she promised, she threaten to arrest me and lock me up in prison if I continue to pester her life.."
"Right now , am scared, I don't know what to do. I can't go public because I don't want my husband to know, he will be devastated if he finds out I did such thing. My stepsister's son is growing up, he is fair like me (whereas my stepsister and her husband are dark in complexion). Anytime I see the boy, my heart jumps, I feel like am seeing my own son which I never had. I feel like I have been used and dump."
"Should I tell my husband what happened without minding how devastated he will be? Should I tell the whole world the truth of how my stepsister got pregnant without minding how it will affect the son? How can I make her pay for her wickedness toward me ? "What do you think this woman should do?

No one has the right to embezzle public money-- VP Yemi Osinbajo
No one has the right to embezzle public money-- VP Yemi Osinbajo
Vice President Prof.
Yemi Osinbajo, SAN has declared that nobody has a right to pocket public
money stating that corruption by its very nature is antithetical and
inimical to the development of any nation. Prof. Osinbajo noted that
everyone needs to uphold the virtues of truth and justice if the country
must make progress in the anti-corruption campaign emphasizing that
people should not give the anti-corruption fight any ethnic coloration
in order to escape punishment.
He explained that ‘’when
there is a fight against corruption, it is not an ethnic fight; it is
not an ethnic battle. People can come up with all sorts of things and
say it is selective. People say the reason why a man is being tried for
corruption is because he is a Yoruba man, or he is from the North or
from the South. We should not encourage this kind of ideas.’’
The Vice President disclosed this on Thursday, 27th August 2015 evening when he received in his office the delegation of the Yoruba Traditional Council in the Northern States and Abuja led by the Chairman, His Royal Highness, Ambassador Mohammed Arigbabuwo. Prof. Osinbajo observed that there is no country in the world that has become great through corruption noting that as a matter of fact ‘’the history of the world shows that corruption has ruined many empires.’’

Prof. Osinbajo observed that there is no country in the world that has become great through corruption noting that as a matter of fact ‘’the history of the world shows that corruption has ruined many empires.’’

Woman Caught Sleeping With Colleague's Husband (Graphics)
Woman Caught Sleeping With Colleague's Husband (Graphics)
When a junior colleague was having personal problems, especially with her landlord, I let her move in with me and my husband. She’s young enough to be our daughter and I enjoyed her company. It was to be a temporary solution until she found alternative accommodation for herself.
But unfortunately, I’ve just discovered that this lady has been enjoying herself sleeping with my husband right in my house. Even after she moved out, she continued the secret act with my husband in her room.
I’m devastated, I feel like such an old fool!
- This was sent to Aunty Bunmi by a married woman who helped her friend. Here is her reply below:
I’m sorry this has happened to you – it will take a long, long time for you to recover from this double betrayal. I’ve never been one for rushing in fancy-free women into your home with an able-bodied husband around, no matter how sorry you feel for her.
But never think of yourself as a fool. You’re a kind, generous, warm-hearted woman who should deserve admiration and respect. It’s your husband and your so-called friend who are bad – for betraying you.
The only regret here is that you brought both of them together. You need to move on with your life and discuss how hurt you feel with your husband, and how you can repair the trust in your marriage.

'Nigeria has lost billions of Naira under Buhari'-- Chief Olisa Metuh
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, has taken a swipe at the President Buhari led administration saying 'the last three months was under an inept and poorly coordinated APC-led government.'
In a statement released on Saturday, August 29, 2015, the PDP spokesman said the current administration has embarked on propaganda of imaginary achievements, in addition to attempts to foist harsh economic regime to cover its ineptitude.
“If not for crass incompetence or a possible ulterior motive to subjugate Nigerians for selfish reasons, what else explains the adamant stance of this administration in running a government without the statutory components of a full cabinet and precise fiscal policy direction, even when the negative consequences of this strange totalitarian approach are taking serious toll on the economy and the polity in general?" he began.
Continuing, 'Whereas the APC led government is busy with its propaganda of imaginary achievements, official reports from the National Bureau of Statistics show that that the economy is being grounded with Nigeria’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) plunging with about 2.35%, while job creation has dropped by 69 percent.
'In the last three months under an inept and poorly coordinated APC-led government, our nation’s economy, which before now, held the record as the largest in Africa and one of the fastest growing in the world, suddenly plummeted as officially evidenced in the lull in the capital and money market sectors which have lost billions of naira; spiral rate of inflation, and stagnation in domestic and foreign direct investments, with investors scared away due to the uncertainty arising from lack of economic direction and apparent confus
“Please Keep Me In Prison I Want To Make Heaven” –Says Serial Killer
“Please Keep Me In Prison I Want To Make Heaven” –Says Serial Killer
Cross River State Police command has arrested a suspected serial killer,
Cyril Ojang Etim, 25, who had been wanted by the police over series of
unexplained deaths in the state.
He was picked by detectives attached to the state Criminal Investigation Department days after he allegedly beheaded one Ubong Asuquo who caught him stealing N4000 from his house at old Netim, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
On his arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Henry Fadairo told Saturday Sun that he had received several reports of the activities of Etim especially from relatives of victims that were either raped or murdered.
He explained that the manhunt was intensified when it was confirmed that the suspect beheaded his colleague, one Ubong Asuquo. “When the news of his arrest broke, several persons came forward alleging that he either raped or stole from them.”
Investigation also revealed that sometime in 2012, the suspect was caught trying to strangulate one of his victims. Not aware that he had become a serial rapist and a killer, the community flogged and asked him to go home and sin no more.
“Also in 2013, he confessed to have killed his lover because she had an abortion. He was arrested then and charged to court. He was later released by a chief judge in 2014, when his name was submitted as those who appeared to have repented,” CP Fadairo said.
The police boss further said that unrepentant Etim continued in his former trade of robbery. “On February 27, 2015, he visited the house of the late Asuquo and stole his N4000. Unfortunately for him, Asuquo caught him red handed and chased him with a cutlass. Both ended up in the bush and Etim over powered him, picked up the cutlass and beheaded Asuquo. A passerby who witnessed the incident rushed to the nearest police station and reported the matter,” Fadairo added.
At the police station, Etim told Saturday Sun that he believes that he was under a spell. “I do not know what could be wrong with me. I normally recover my senses as soon as I have committed a crime. It all started in 2010 after my 20th birthday. I discovered that my love for women increased. I do not have money but I wanted to have sex. If any woman tries to resist me, I will force her to have sex with me.
“I have been caught severally but because I have an innocent face, people will blame the women for seducing me. Unfortunately, in 2013, my lover Esther told me that she was pregnant. I was already dreaming that I will become a father at a young age when she came back a week later and told me that she had an abortion. I was devastated and out of anger, beat her to death,” he said.
On realising his mistake, Etim handed himself over to the police. “I was arrested and charged to court. Honestly, I had repented from my sins and gave my life to Christ. I was well behaved, that is why the prison authority submitted my name to the Chief Judge. She was the one who approved my release.
“When I was finally released in 2014, the devil took over my life again. I went back to the same crime. I was very broke and since I knew the late Asuquo, I decided to sneak into his house and get some money. The first time I stole N3000 and was not caught. I went back three days later and was about to collect the N4000 that I saw in one of his drawers when he saw me. He shouted and picked his cutlass. I ran as fast as I could but he came after me. I knew that he would kill me, that was why I fought back. I had no choice but to kill him. I never knew that someone saw us.
“I am willing to go to prison because it appears that I am stable inside there. I know that I have committed a lot of atrocities but I am begging the families of my victims to forgive me because I want to make heaven”, Etim pleaded.

She was reportedly dragged to a village hall at Owerinta by the attackers who pounced on her with clubs and beat her to death.
According to her lawyer, Chief Anthony Agbazuere, the victim was not given a fair hearing by her accusers who attacked her in a dehumanizing manner.”
The lawyer said Onyedi was attacked on July 29 by six men “using their hand, pieces of planks and flat surface of machetes.”
He said, “It is our instruction that the people constituted themselves into a court and attacked our client unlawfully.
“It is also our instruction that the victim, who sustained injuries to her legs and the back, close to her neck, was also forced to drink an unknown substance.”
Agbazuere said that the victim had reported the matter to the police at Owerrinta Police Station before she died on August 24 in the hospital following the injuries she sustained.
The activist said the victim, who died on August 24 had contacted his chambers for her defence, hence his call for justice on the circumstances leading to her “murder”.
He has petitioned the Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Joshak Habila, to call for the transfer of the matter from Owerinta Police Division to the State’s Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigations.

These are still early days. At the end of the day, we will have a balance. By the time more appointments are made, it will balance out. The President is trying to get the very best of Nigerians. APC Leaders Express Their Disappointment Over Buhari's Northern Appointees
APC Leaders Express Their Disappointment Over Buhari's Northern Appointees
Leaders of the APC, who spoke to The Punch, complained that the
appointments tilted in favour of the North and said the party must move
fast to cope with the backlash of expected rumblings in the polity.
“The President does not consult before making most of these appointments and I can tell you that Nigerians are going to term the party and the President as a northern party and the President of Northern Nigeria,” a leader of the party said to one of our correspondents late on Tuesday.
Three top national officers of the APC, who spoke with Punch on condition of anonymity shortly after the announcements were made, wondered why the President was appointing only northerners to positions to the detriment of the southerners.
They said that the President was already giving the party a bad name among Nigerians. They said they had hoped that he would learn from the criticisms that trailed his first appointments where more northerners were appointed into sensitive positions than southerners.
Before the latest appointments, the President had also named only one southerner among the initial nine appointments he made.
The northerners in the first appointments are the Director-General of the State Services, Lawal Daura; Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mrs. Amina Zakari; the Director, Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Mordecai Danteni Baba Ladan; and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.
Also in the first appointments are the President’s Chief Security Officer, Abdulrahman Mani; State Chief of Protocol, Mallam Abdullahi Kazaure; Aide- De-Camp, Lt. Col. Muhammed Abubakar; and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
Only the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, hailed from Osun Staten in the South-West.
Another APC leader said the party must devise a way of managing the backlash that would follow the appointments.
He said, “Though the President did not get much votes from the South-East but we must not neglect the zone in key appointments.
“Even the South-West that supported and was the backbone of the party, what are we giving the zone in appreciation? We need to be careful before the party is destroyed.”
It was gathered that some leaders of the party were already thinking of having an enlarged meeting where the appointments would be reviewed.
But another senior member of the APC said such a meeting, if it would hold at all, would have to wait until the party holds its Kogi State governorship primary on Saturday.
A member of the state executive of APC in a South-West state, said the appointments were lopsided against the South.
He said, “When President Olusegun Obasanjo took over, you saw balance in appointments as he reflected federal character. President Goodluck Jonathan too reflected a semblance of balance. Buhari is pursuing a northern agenda. This is the same agenda pursued by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, when everything was pro-North. Buhari made six appointments at a go and five of them are northerners.”
The Speaker of one of the Houses of Assembly in the South-West, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also described the new appointments as shocking.
The Speaker, who is a member of the APC, said, “This is shocking. It doesn’t speak well at all. The South-West has been completely neglected and the South-East too. The South-West was neglected during the President Goodluck Jonathan years. The South-West must rise up against this.”
Similarly, an APC chairman in another South-West state, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the list of the new appointees had left him perplexed.
The chairman said, “This is not good at all. Why should he choose everybody from the North? I am sure he did not confide in anybody before drawing up the list and making the announcement. We will continue to watch. It is condemnable.”
In the same vein, an APC member of the House of Representatives, said the leaders of the party in the South-West were shocked by Buhari’s latest appointments.
“He didn’t tell anybody. We are all shocked. The real shocker would be when he is going to appoint ministers. The only thing that would save us is that he is mandated constitutionally to choose from all states, otherwise, he would have chosen all the ministers too from the North,” the female member of parliament said.
The new SGF graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1979 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and worked with the Delta Steel Company, Aladja, Nigerian External Telecommunications Limited and Data Sciences Limited before establishing his own ICT and Telecommunications consulting firm in 1990.
Kyari, the new Chief of Staff to the President, holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick in Law and Sociology.
The new Comptroller-General of Customs, holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Criminology. He was military administrator of Kaduna State from 1996 to 1998.

OMG!!! 12 year old girl hangs herself after losing mother to cancer
A 12-year-old schoolgirl whose mother died of breast cancer killed
herself after posting self-harm pictures on Instagram, an inquest has
heard.
Isabel Ann Richardson, from Norwich, was struggling with feelings she
was 'worthless' and 'empty' after losing her mother Karina to the
disease in 2010.
But despite speaking to a school nurse at Hewett School, she was
overcome by her sadness and on May 12, discovered hanging in her bedroom
by her father.
Earlier that evening, Isabel's father Stephen Richardson was called by her brother about distressing images she had posted online.
Entering her bedroom to check on her, he found her hanging and she was rushed to hospital. She died six days later.
The inquest at Norfolk Coroner's Court heard Isabel had told her father about the self harming five weeks prior to her death.
After he was informed, the two began speaking to a school nurse and were
referred to bereavement service Nelson's Journey. Isabel was also due
to speak to a youth service counsellor the day after she was found dead.
The inquest heard Mr Richardson said his daughter told him she had
stopped hurting herself and he thought she was a lot happier since the
meetings.
However, he added: 'I was aware of her self harm, but I never thought for a second she would do anything like take her own life.
'I will always think I could have done more.'
Coroner Jacqueline Lake recorded a narrative verdict - saying it wasn't clear if Isabel had intended to take her life.
She said: 'Although she hanged herself, this could have been a cry for help.'

"I had a private jet before becoming a governor" - Gov Rochas Okorocha
"I had a private jet before becoming a governor" - Gov Rochas Okorocha
He made this known after some politicians
in the state asked him to sell his private jet and use the proceed to
address unpaid salaries of civil servants in the state. The governor's
reaction is contained in a statement released by his Chief Press
Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, today August 27. Read it below
"As a government, we want to deny with high sense of honesty that since May 29, 2011 when Owelle Rochas Okorocha became governor, he has never bought any private Jet either directly or by proxy. Having made this denial let those behind the allegation make their facts public to fault our denial. “The period Governor Rochas Okorocha bought Jets was years before he was elected, during the Olusegun Obasanjo regime when some of the presidential jets were auctioned. The governor bought jets then under the aegis of Lamonde Aviation, alongside few other Nigerians. Since he became governor, he has never bought any private Jet. Again, the Debit Management Agency penultimate week published the states and their respective debt profiles. And in the case of Imo State, they published N37 billion which was far from the hundreds of billions the opponents of the government have been claiming to be the debt status of the state. And the N37 billion debt include the ones owed by the previous administrations. The good story is that we have been vindicated on that.”the statement read
