6 Feared Dead In Buhari’s Campaign Rally Stampede
Reports coming from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital reveal that no fewer than six people have lost their lives in a stampede that occurred at the presidential campaign rally of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Vanguard reported that the rally which took place at the Ramat Square left many supporters of the party injured with some hospitalised.
It was further gathered from a sources that, the five people that died comprised two asthmatic patients who were trapped in the stampede at the venue, while others died as a results of accident and a stray bullet fired by security operatives while controlling the crowd that tried to burn down the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) offices in the state.
The campaign rally was reportedly well attended by APC supporters, chieftains and the presidential Candidate, General Mohammed Buhari, his running mate, Professor Yemi Asibanjo as well as Governor Kashim Shettima.
Others in attendance include state and national candidates of the party and thousands of supporters who thronged the streets early in the morning to the venue of the rally amidst tight security.
