Kwara state Gov dumps APC for PDP

Ilorin – Kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed Tuesday night in Ilorin finally defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At the press time, there was a meeting which included Governor Abdufatah Ahmed, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki,four members of House of Representatives, excluding Hon Funke Adedoyin and Hon Tope Layonu, both from kwara south who were not in the meeting and several others.
Journalists were asked to excuse them from the meeting.
The spokesman of APC,Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi was also conspicuously absent at the meeting.
The defection of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is contained in a one paragraph press statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr Muideen Akorede to journalists in Ilorin while the meeting was underway.
The one paragraph press statement reads,”Following due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed today defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), having realized that the All Progressive Congress (APC) can longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people.
Mwmbers of house of representatives present are..Hon Abdulrazaq Atunwa,Hon Ahman Patigi,,Hon Abubakar Kannike and Hon Zakareh Mohammed.
Also present are Senator Shaaba Lafiagi of kwara north Senator Rafiu Ibrahim of Kwara South and members of the state
House of Assembly which included the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad and all members, excluding, Hon Saheed Popoola.
All political appointees in the state and ten political leaders from each of the 16 local government in the state were also present.
